Research On The Volition Of Modern Chinese Military

In the field of the war, which is full of unknowns, the military volition is one of the key spirit elements that have proud influence on fighting capacity. Because of this, the rational thinking and scientific exploring about the military volition should become one of the subjects of the Military Psychology. The concept of the volition originates from philosophy, and the thinking about its inner operation mechanism and quality structure is developed in psychology. What problem this thesis is hoped to solve is to investigate these soldiers’volition innovation, volition progress, and their volition traits dimensions. These soliders belong to a special population.This thesis is divided into five parts. The first part is analysis about the concept of military volition, which is based on relative theories. By sorting out volition studies in philosophy, psychology and military volition is disentangled. In the second part, by using the qualitative research methods, on the basis of a wide range of data coliection, the concept of military volition, its progress and the model of volition traits are confirmed. On the basis of the military volition traits model that is confirmed in the second part, by using quantitative research methods, combing military in different situations general volition traits scale and military fighting volition traits Scale, this thesis makes a check about them. In the fourth parts, the two blended scales are used to test the military, differences of different militaries between general volition traits and fighting volition traits are discussed, and the characteristics of the two different volition traits of nowadays Chinese military are analyzed.Five conclusions can be gained through the study.I. About the category of the volition. Through the study in the philosophy to get the volition’s property, which are:(1) volition is the elements of the individual to know the world;(2) volition is the important factor to drive and regulate the behavior;(3) volition is equipped with versatility and diversity. The behavior of volition is the result of the multi-factors coactions; the process of volition both have closed and causality, and have the character of opened and nonlinearity.II. Make clear the concept and the process of military volition. Military volition is a comprehensive psychological process. It is a psychological progress of cognitive evaluation, emotion management and behavior process. There are a few key elements: aim, difficulties, evaluating aims again, shifting motivations, maintaining orientations, and controlling injecting behaviors.III. Construct the model of nowadays Chinese military volition traits. Military that have excellent volition traits may demonstrate in their behaviors that following points, whenever in the daily life or wartime:A firm belief, the pursuit of perfection, competitiveness, strong independence, strong resistance, and calmness and decisiveness. Excellent military volition traits include:clear goals, making decision independently, promise, hope, tenacity, activeness, and staunch.IV. Edit and test GVTSM and FVTSM. GVTSM is mainly used to test the relative stable psychological characteristics of militaty in general situation (in peaceful time and no major tasks and actions), when suffering difficulties and facing challenges. The psychological characteristics include34items and4scales, namely, independence, consciousness, self-control, self-excitation. While FVTSM is mainly used to test the psychological characteristics of military in wartime or combat maneuvers, peace operations, non-military actions, and major that are close to the war state in order to fulfill tasks and inspire the will and behaviors. These psychological characteristics include23items, and4scales, that is, determination, firmness, persistence and tenacity. Results of these tests and verification show that the two scales have high reliability and validity, and can be used to test military volition traits both in daily life and wartime.V. Test present situation and characteristics of nowadays Chinese military volition level. By using the edited GVTSM and FVTSM, this thesis measures the officers and two conclusions can be gained.①In the aspect of general volition traits,**service has the highest fighting volition level, military who have more than8years of military have higher general volition, while female military are better than male military in self-control; officers have higher general volition traits level; two-years compulsory soliders have apparently higher general volition traits level; in education level, it presents the weak at two ends, strong in the middle situation.②in the aspect of fighting volition traits,**and**army have higher fighting volition traits level; fighting volition traits levels rises as the length of military service; serge ancies have the strongest fighting volition traits; military who have junior college education have the highest fighting volition traits level.Conclusions of this study on the one hand provide a theoretical framework for further military volition studies, and put forward a relative complete military volition theoretical framework; on the other, they can be used in the selection, measurement and evaluation of military, training military’s will, and providing grounds for empirical researches. It has great practical value.
