Zapatista movement is a famous event of contemporarygrassroots politics, which contains plentiful global elements and transnational politicalelements. This thesis will attempt to integrate the domestic political perspective andthe transnational political perspective so as to set upan analysis framework on thereason why Zapatista movement can get extensive support in Mexico and abroad. In the1990s, Latin American countries under the neo-liberal political experimentencountered serious development bottlenecks. At that time, conspicuoussocioeconomic problems led to many grassroots resistence actions. These actionsfought against not only international capital hegemony and global neo-liberal system, but also Mexican authoritarian political system. United with variousanti-establishment ideological movement and all sorts of forces of anti-globalizationand anti-capitalism, Zapatista has produced many sensational transnational medialandscapes and huge global effects. Zapatista is also a typical postmodern revolution,in which the Zapatista guerrilla fighters have made their campaign pretty effectivethrough the power of microphones, words and ski masks. This campaign has alsoplayed an important role in the process of political transition in Mexico.
