"The sinicization of Marxism" is not only a political and theoretical proposition but also a proposition of ideological and cultural history."The sinicization of Marxism" itself is a combination of the two, in that it is not only about the combination of Marxism and Chinese reality, but also a combination of Marxism and Chinese history and culture."Sinicization of Marxism" was proposed based on the consistency with both the epochal features of the first half of the twentieth century in China and the rules of "sinicization".The proposition of sinicization in China is a collective theoretical awakening and cultural choice of the Chinese Communist Party according to the specific experience of revolution (the setback from dogmatism) and the concrete historical background (the outbreak of the anti-Japanese war). It is a theoretical response from the Party members to those opponents of Marxism and also a deep reflection of the experience of revolution in China."The sinicization of Marxism" is also the inevitable result and objective requirement of Chinese cultural development since "the May4th Movement" as well as the inevitable requirement of the cultural rule of "sinicization". The "sinicization" of foreign culture is a very common cultural phenomenon as a result of the cultural communication between China and foreign countries, and also the objective result of cross-cultural communication, which represents the inevitability of history. In modern china, the historical background of the frequent exchanges of Chinese and foreign cultures make the sinicization of foreign cultures more outstanding. As from the1920s and1930s, the "sinicization" of foreign culture had already been very popular, and the concept of sinicization had spread from the academic area to various political and social sides since the anti-Japanese war, the concept of sinicization of foreign culture was widely received in the first half of the twentieth century. It became a fabulous historical picture of that time. Thus,"the sinicization of Marxism" was born under this historical background of current of "sinicization" of foreign culture. This paper aims at relate "sinicization of Marxism" to "sinicization" of foreign cultures. This paper analyzes the origin and the rationality of the proposition of "the sinicization of Marxism" at both macro and micro levels by focusing on the cultural phenomenon of "sinicization" in the aspect of ideological and cultural history, regardless of the revolution vision, political side and also the theory of Soviet Union and nationalization of international communism. Through the exploration of the origin of the trend of "sinicization" in the first half of the twentieth century, this paper has examined the origin of "the sinicization of Marxism" as an ideological and cultural history, and also presented its social background and theoretical content. The author has displayed the theoretical basis of sinicization of Marxism as an ideological and cultural history by studying the trend of "sinicization" in the first half of the twentieth century and also the proposition of "the sinicization of Marxism". The key argument lies in the propositions of "the sinicization of Marxism" as one trend of sinicization and also as one theory that has led the road of sinicization. Therefore, this paper develops its argument by focusing on the dimensions above. The first half of the paper states the development of the trend of sinicization from a rough idea to a concept, including the evolution of Chinese Marxists’ understanding of sinicization in order to discuss about "the sinicization of Marxism" as a part of the trend of "sinicization". This paper adopts the method of Braudel’s long-term theory, not limited to the discussion of the "sinicization" during the anti-Japanese war and "the sinicization of Marxism" but addressing the whole development process of the concept of sinicization form a rough idea to a concept by taking into consideration the "sinicization" of foreign cultures from a cross-cultural perspective and also the sinicization under the historical background of the national crisis faced by contemporary China. The latter half of the paper deals with how "the sinicization of Marxism" became the mainstream of the trend of "sinicization" during the first half of the twentieth century. It tries to analyze how "the sinicization to Marxism" led and continued the trend of "sinicization". At the same time, this paper compares "the sinicization of Marxism" with other positions such as those of the Kuomintang and the New Confucianists in order to find the superiority and rationality of the "sinicization of Marxism". Besides, the paper doesn’t avoid discussing historical reality and discusses the specific historical background of "the sinicization of Marxism" with the scientific attitude of historicism. This paper tries to correct the inclination of the random ante-displacement of sinicization of Marxism and excessive overstatement in the academic field, and aims to explain the cognitive process of the Chinese Communist Party members who had got rid of dogmatism. At last, through the study of this theme, this paper tries to get some enlightenment for the present reality from a reflection of history."Sinicization" is advancing with time, so is "the sinicization of Marxism". However, we should treat the relations between the past and present, Chinese and overseas with a right attitude and promote the further development of the cause of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics with the correct theory and enough innovation based on the characteristics of China and also that of our times.
