Equality is a fragile ideal, even for those people who pursue it, once involved in the distribution of power, position and influence, they seem to betray it. If we do not understand equality literally, and what it means? On political philosophy, the equality isa normative concept, which reflects a significant political value, it is a noble politicalideal, and has made requirements on contemporary political, economic, legal andsocial systems. As a normative concept, equality is an important political value. On the one hand, the modern political and legal system should reflect the values of equality, from theConstitution to a variety of specific legal regulations; On the other hand, the modern political and legal system should guarantee the value of equality, making it the rights and claims in the Constitution and various specific laws. But different from freedom, asa normative concept, equality has not been as popular as freedom. Equality as a moraltheory has not been fully explained and argued as liberal theory. All these result in a lot of debates in discussing egalitarian, no matter as a political philosophy or as a socialpolicy in contemporary society. Some people agree with egalitarianism, while some others are opposed to egalitarianism.Criticizing inequality is a wise way to endorse equality theoretically. Objectionsare different in egalitarians, intuitive theory egalitarians oppose the reasons of inequality, and teleological egalitarians oppose inequality itself, deontological egalitarians concern who should take responsible forinequality. No matter in opposing to inequality or proving the equality, the egalitarianshardly provide completely convincing proof for us.”Anti-egalitarians” hold apessimistic position to equality, and they believe equality is neither desirable norfeasible in reality; but they do not support the in equality evidently.“Inequalitarians”oppose to equality and support inequality, which is more radical than“Anti-egalitarians”. Those two position represent the strongest criticism to theegalitarian. No matter egalitarian theory, or the criticism theory to equality, despite theirstrong arguments, they always seem not enough to constitute their arguments and also fail to put forward practical solutions for social reality. However, objectively speaking,it is an innate characteristic of political philosophy as normative theory.Though badly,we have to accept this fact.Marx’s theory brings us directly to the historical reality. By profound analysis tocapitalist society, Marx set himself the task of releasing humanity form alienation. Theoppression form the capitalism become more serious. And therefore, this task is moreurgent today. Equality is not only a faith in Marx’s theory, but also embodied in ourreal life. So it is still worth fighting for equality.
