"Mar-tsang Sde-ba (Tib:Dmar gtsang sde ba) is a Tibetan village that located in northern Amdo, and its name was derived from the famous Tibetan pilgrimage---Mar-tsang monastery(Tib:Dmar gtsang dgon pa) which is situated right next to village. According to conventional human geographical perspective, Mar-tsang Sde-ba Village belongs to Pa-ri (Tib:Dpal ris) Tribe. however, many evidences show that the village actually is composed of people from Dro-tsang (Tib: gro tsang) Tribe. Mar-tsang Sde-ba village is located in the banks of the Tsong-chu River, not very far from Ping-an County and is surround by number of Han Chinese and Hui Muslim communities. Based on the field research in my research, the author studied behavior pattern of Mar-tsang community in terms of their ethnic identity, social memory and political participation as part of the ethnographical research. In Addition, also discussed the origin of Mar-tsang community, how it was formed and its significance in the development of Tibetan communities along the Tsong-chu area.The structure and contents are as following:PrefaceChapter Ⅰ Introduction The significance of the topic, research methods and main conclusions, innovation and difficulties analysis.Chapter Ⅱ Geographical and human environment of Mar-tsang community.Chapter Ⅲ The clan of Mar-tsang community and the study of its ethnic identity construction through their cultural characteristics of Dro-tsang Tribe.Chapter Ⅳ Discussion on the internal cultural cohesion mechanism of Mat-tsang community:Bone lineage and marriage circle. Chapter Ⅴ The study on the history of Mar-tsang monastery, the basic community cultural symbol and the foundation for the following discussion.Chapter Ⅵ The construction progress of the cultural symbol "Mar-tsang monastery", condensed symbol building process and how the community indicated its unique ethnic and cultural identity through shaping social memory.Chapter Ⅶ Two events happened in Mar-tsang community, the internal ethnic suspicion opposition, the external force resistance, agglutination, psychology and behavior during the community mobilization and political participation.Chapter Ⅷ Conclusion The internal and external factors of cohesion and development of Mar-tsang community. Through comparative study with other Tibetan communities in Tsong-chu area, made the conculsion that the modle of Mar-tsang community could be a available path for them.
