Patriotism, as a positive value, is the political emotions that everyone can not avoid. Constitutional patriotism is the theory of post-nationalism collective identity proposed by the German thinker Jiirgen·Habermas in the1980s. As an outstanding representative of Western Marxism figures, he has hoped to replace a strong historical tradition of romantic nationalism patriotism in Germany and to establish a collective identity theory full of more inclusive, more political autonomy. The Paper based on the Habermas’s "constitutional patriotism" tries to discuss, to sort out the details and reconstruction, in order to reveal the connotation of national identity during the era of globalization, as well as how to form an effective model of patriotic education in China. In the pre-conventional stage, due to the limitations of human cognitive abilities, the collective identity of the human society was based on geographical, kinship, religious and other traditional factors, which are direct inheritances from our ancestors, without reflective. With the post-metaphysical era, the religious social integration forces has languished. But now, the nationalism because of its unique nature such as:closed, exclusion and historical disaster has caused, can not serve as the basis of collective identity in the globalization.A new concept of collective identity which is rational, standardized, post-nationalist must be sought.Habermas has reconstructed the modern law from "Discourse Ethics". Most important is that the law discoursed by the people in the process of freedom and democracy. Accordingly, the law reflects the will of the people.Actually; the bearers of the law are the creators of the law themselves. The Country identified by the people is the Community constructed by our own law. Therefore, the sense of love and identity for the nation has embodied in the value of the law which recognized by the members of the Community one and another. With the advent of the era of globalization, people have been constantly to break through the existing national territory to set up a worldwide collective identity. The theory of constitutional patriotism questioned and even criticized by many scholars because of the enormous tension between its ideal and reality. Although it is full of logical. Despite a certain degree of rationality, they have ignored a consistent core of Habermas’theory. That is,"people’s self-legislation" is an inexhaustible source of collective identity in modern society. In fact, it is also an attempt to improve his "unfinished modernity".Habermas hopes to establish a normative identity based on program to replace the former collective identity based on the blood, culture and so on, in order to achieve the peaceful coexistence among all kinds of civilizations. Unfortunately, long as the world plays the games in the way of the nation-state, nationalism would be the basic collective identity which can not be ignored. But the extreme nationalism must be tamed, especially racism, by the Constitutional patriotism. If the reality really can be shaped by theory, it would not be a bad idea of being guided. Moreover, the concept of "Economic base determines the superstructure." as a historical materialism has made the collective identity face the globalization. In this sense, constitutional patriotism is a Utopia, but rather an optimistic expectation about the future of humanity.Studying of Western political theory, naturally, is to think about China and to find the key how to form an effective docking of Chinese thought. For a long time, China’s patriotic education confined to the ideological reasons, just maintaining a symbolic meaning. But now, China is no longer isolated in a geographical sense, she is in the world structure after30years of reform and opening up. In addition, China itself is a multi-ethnic with complex cultural, in this context, to establish stable and united society based nationalism alone is not enough obviously. Fortunately, Constitutional patriotism would provide valuable inspiration and reference through the institutional recognition and dialogue with the world...
