The universities and colleges for ethnic minority groups are the comprehensive general institutions of higher learning which are established by the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government for the purpose of solving the ethnic problems within the country. The researches on the ideological and political education of the students who are studying at ethnic universities or colleges during the new era are the new demands for the changes in the international background as well as the demands for the development of the actual society of China. Besides, the researches on the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students in the new era have an important theoretical significance as well certain practical values.In this thesis, careful researches have been conducted on a number of major problems concerning the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students in the new era, such as the ideological evolution and the evolutionary logic, the characteristics and laws, the contents and methods, and the strategies and suggestions in terms of the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students.The research on the ideological evolution and evolutionary logic of the ethnic university students. This chapter focuses on the research on the historical investigation, the analysis on the current situation, and the logical summary of the ideological evolution related to the ideological and political education of the students studying at ethnic university. Specifically, the research includes three aspects. Firstly, certain researches are conducted on the transition process of the ethnic university students ideological evolution and four stages of their ideological evolution are put forward based the changes of both domestic and international backgrounds and the economic and social development in minority areas in the past60years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Secondly, by means of statistics and analysis, a comprehensive analysis and scientific judgment have been made on the basic current ideological status of the ethnic university students and some proposals are put forward on their ideological mainstream conditions, existing major problems and causes, based on the following data and investigations:the questionnaire survey data taken as major samples conducted by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission in2010on the15ethnic universities and colleges in the country, field investigations carried out at some ethnic universities or colleges related, which are compared with the questionnaire survey data by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission in2008and the investigation data on the universities and colleges directly under the Ministry of Education in2010. Thirdly, certain researches are conducted on the ideological evolution of the ethnic university students with the application of dissipative structure theory and synergetics and three sorts of logics of the ideological evolution of the ethnic university students, viz. equilibrium-breaking logic, direction change logic and coherent synergetic transformation logic.The research on the characteristics and laws of the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students. This chapter mainly raises seven major characteristics and four major laws related to the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students. The seven major characteristics include the following:political, guiding, epochal, ethnical, pertinent, balancing and comprehensive. The four laws contain the following:the law of elements reorganization, the law of sudden ups-and-downs, the law of sensing effect and the law of mutual complementation and exceeding.The research on the contents and methods of the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students. As for the contents of the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students, this chapter mainly researches on the composition and features of the contents; as for the methods of the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students, the composition and features of the methodology are mainly studied.The research on the strategies and suggestions for the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students. The research is conducted in two parts. The first part is related to the policies of the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students with a focus on the policy connotation, principles of policy making and policy effects. In the second part, five specific strategies and suggestions for the ideological and political education of the ethnic university students are put forward such as strengthening the security system construction of the ethnic university students ideological and political education, strengthening the main channel construction of the ethnic university students ideological and political education and their mental health education, strengthening the work and role of the Party and the League at ethnic universities, and strengthening the soft educational environment at ethnic universities as well.
