Our country is in an accelerating period of urbanization and modernization, and in this period, the positioning and values of rural culture deserve attention. Based on Black Soil Village, which is located in the eastern outskirt of Hohhot in Inner Mongolia, the religion change and its features of continuation in modern society is studied. The community process-event minute practice analysis methods and thick description of subjectivity are applied as well as traditional fieldwork.First, the author talks about the natural geography, the characteristics of history and society and diversified pattern of living-making. Second, the temple change, god replacement and the evolution of villager’s belief discourse are presented specifically, which is pointed out that in the village temple, though Dragon King Temple turned into Three Official Temple, Village God was from Dragon King to Buddha, and new denotation was add to villagers’belief discourse in the course of their acceptance of the scientific concept and atheism, village religion stays in the village life. Eventually, based on Cultural accumulation and the practice of religion change in Black Soil Village, the author receives that village religion change is a free course to self-caused course motivated by external factors and native needs."Continuous belief" is the overall feature of religion change in a century in Black Soil Village; currently, in high speeding changing rural society, village religion is irreplaceable in spiritual care and moral construction for villagers. At the same time, the author attempts to connect village religion research with village governance research in anthropology at home and abroad, pointing out under the premise of emphasizing interaction of state and social autonomy and the autonomy of villagers, village religion may be taken as effective resource of village governance, that is village religion may be used as good governance.
