Marx and Engels’ educational equity thought is an essential component of the theoretical system of Marxism, the establishment of it is a great leap forward in history of human beings’ educational equity thought. The research of educational equity thought of Marx and Engels will contribute to scientifically understand Marx and Engels’ educational equity thought, as well as to provide theoretical guidance for solution of unfair issues which occur in our country’s educational development.Start from the Marx and Engels’classic theories, the article try to elaborate systematically on Marx and Engels’educational equity thought. Firstly, an analysis both from the theoretical background and social background is given to explain the historical background of appearance of Marx and Engels’ educational equity thought. Secondly, the article makes an overall explanation of the main contents and basic characteristics of Marx and Engels’ educational equity thought. it elaborates on the main contents of Marx and Engels’ educational equity thought from five aspects:equal right of education is the substance of education equity, human’s free and all-round development is the value orientation of education equity, political equality is the prerequisite to fulfill education equity, The development of productivity is the basis to fulfill education equity; Perfect legal system is the guarantee to fulfill education equity; Then it elaborates on the basic characteristics of Marx and Engels’ educational equity thought from four aspects:the unity of reality and ideality, the unity of criticism and inheritance, the unity of absolutism and relativity, the unity of scientism and humanism. Finally, the article extracts the contemporary value of Marx and Engels’ educational equity thought from its theoretical value and practical value, the contemporary value of Marx and Engels’ educational equity thought provides theoretical guidance both for construction of educational equity theory accordance with our country’s national condition and promotion of our country’s educational equity practice.
