The internationalization of American higher education has a long history. From it we will get experience to promote our internationalization of higher education.The dissertation has two main parts:The first part is the introduction, including the significance of the topic, research status, research ideas and innovations.The second part is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is a theoretical analysis of internationalization of higher education, focusing on the concept, nature, content, features, criteria and internal and external factors of the internationalization of higher education.The second chapter is about the construction of the internationalization of American higher education. Learning from European experience, America built the higher education system. In this phase, personal factors played a dominant influence and promote the occurrence and development of American higher education.The third chapter is about the transition of the internationalization of American higher education. The mainly driving force of the internationalization of higher education transformed from person to social organizations, such as numerous foundations, NGOs, which became the leading force in the internationalization of American higher education. Meanwhile, the internationalization of American higher education transformed from education to political application.The fourth chapter is about the government-led period of the internationalization of American higher education. In this phase, the internationalization of American higher education became a strategic tool for the government, such as ideology output toward the Soviet Union.The fifth chapter is about the adjusting and improving of the internationalization of American higher education in the 21 th century. "9·11" deeply affected the internationalization of American higher education.
