In 2012 the book "A Teacher’s lifelong learning attitude" was brought out in Japan. In a time of worldwide information exchange, one can ask what is the profile and what are the requirements for the present-day teacher as teaching methods are quickly changing and the knowledge from the past on which teachers could lean on is also changing. The author believes that more than knowledge and skills, children should learn and get inspired by "the lifestyle of the teacher, his/her character as well as the teacher’s knowledge on the purpose, value and significance of life". Moreover because of the increasing importance of lifelong learning in our time, the present-day teacher’s "lifelong learning attitude and way of living" should stimulate the cultivation of every child’s "lifelong learning talent"The Value-Creating Education model continuously puts in practise this "human education" model aiming towards cultivating and stimulating the value creating talent of everyone. President Daisaku Ikeda states that teachers play the most important role in the educational environment of a child. He further states that the teacher’s continuous learning attitude and the changes the teacher experiences through his or her own "human revolution" can stimulate valuable talent to grow. The author experienced that teachers adopting the Value-Creating Education model have a continuous learning attitude. Therefore by the present dissertation the author will investigate and focus on the specific characteristics of Value-Creating teachers. In order to clarify the characteristics of Value-Creating teachers, both quantitative and qualitative methods will be used. First by means of closed-ended questionnaires we will see the differences between traditionally schooled teachers and Value-Creating teachers. Second in order to investigate in detail the specific characteristics of Value-Creating teachers we will make use of open-ended questionnaires. Finally to fully understand the characteristics of Value-Creating teachers 2 examples will be investigated in detail.Aforementioned research results clearly prove that a Value-Creating teacheris different from a traditionally schooled teacher. First because of 5 specific characteristics.① The ability to have a clear aim.②The importance of being a role model.③The strong belief in possibilities.④The enthusiasm and ⑤the companionship between teachers. More specifically a Value-Creating teacher ①works towards reaching big goals,②has a life mentor,③strongly believes in the possibilities of each child,④ actively tackles every hurdle and ⑤wants to learn from each other.Second because each Value-Creating teacher will show these 5 characteristics independent of their age. Furthermore these characteristics are not only present, Value-Creating teachers will maintain these characteristics on the long term. With the "code of conduct" of their own mentors as a guideline as well as the "mutual encouragements" from colleagues Value-Creating teachers possess a strong spiritual pillar.Third Value-Creating teachers are not blaming everyone and everything except oneself. On the contrary they will challenge themselves. The first question they ask is "What can I change myself?"Their goal is to pursue their own human revolution and to become a "human revolution teacher".The author hopes that studying the characteristics of the Value-Creating teacher will help shape Japan’s "Teacher’s lifelong learning attitude" and will also contribute to the Chinese education system.
