Objective: How to measure and evaluate the effects of training load on central nervous system(CNS) has been always being a tough problem for coaches and scientists. Electroencephalogram(EEG) objectively exhibits the brain’s physiological characteristics, depend on which brain’s status and function varieties could be measured and predicted. A comprehensive investigation and research from 2011 to 2013 on elite athletes’ brain function characteristics was made, who were from different levels 、training phases and statuses. Based on massive data and experiments a brain function indexes system would be established. A scientific 、precise and objective way of monitoring elite athletes’ training would be provided in the view of central nervous system(CNS),and theoretical basis for elite athletes’ scientific training would be established. Methods: Elite athletes’ brain function characteristics were studied with the technology of Electroencephalogram(EEG) information entropy and neurotransmitter analysis. The study consisted of 5 parts:1、Elite athletes’ function characteristics. The subjects included 189 ordinary people and 540 elite athletes(199 National First-level Athletes,217 National Master-level athletes,124 International Master-level athletes);2、Elite athletes’ brain function characteristics in different training phases. The subjects included 384 elite athletes from 7 different event-groups. The brain function characteristics in 4 different training phases were recorded(before winter training、in the middle of winter training、after winter training and before competition).3、Elite athletes’ brain function characteristics in different training statuses. The subjects included 384 elite athletes from 7 different event-groups. The brain function characteristics in 5 different training statuses were recorded.4、Based on the data from the previous 3 experiments,China’s elite athletes’ brain function measure evaluation and monitoring system was preliminarily established through the method of percentiles. 5.China’s elite athletes’ brain function measure evaluation and monitoring system was applied into the training of different events, one of which was China’s national gymnastic team’s training before London Olympic Games,2012.Results:1、Elite athletes’ brain function characteristics were more coordinated、stable and ordered than ordinary people. The higher level the athletes were, the more ordered their brain function showed. There was no significant difference between male and female. 2、Elite athletes’ brain function characteristics varied regularly in different training phases.3、Elite athletes’ brain function characteristics varied regularly in different training statuses. 4、China’s elite athletes’ brain function measure evaluation and monitoring system was preliminarily established through the method of percentiles.5、Huge individual differences were found when using China’s elite athletes’ brain function measure evaluation and monitoring system. Individual assessment could exhibit athletes’ statuses caused by training and the brain function characteristics index could be one of the training monitoring indexes in the view of central nervous system(CNS).Conclusion: Elite athletes’ brain function characteristics were coordinated、stable and ordered and varied according to different training statuses and phases. As a result, China’s elite athletes’ brain function measure evaluation and monitoring system is an effective and objective way for elite athletes’ training monitoring and selection before competitions, which enriched the competitive capability status assessment indexes system in the view of central nervous system(CNS).
