Analysis Of Interaction Between Network Competence And Absorptive Capacity And A Study On Their Mechanisms That Affect Product Innovation Value Chain

In the network economy, the organizational environment is an open system.Enterprises need to obtain resources from environment when they can not achievedself-internal completely.In order to obtain resources, technology and knowledgewhich enterprises need or lack of, the enterprises established cooperative relationswith other organizations, or learned from them.Completed the activities of innovationvalue chain alone is difficult for enterprises,so they need to seek cooperation in stagesof innovation.Based on the resourse-based theory,social network theory andinnovaton theory, innovation value chain as framework, studied the supporting role ofnetwork competence and absorptive capacity in product innovation withmulti-dimensional cross-refinement, as well as the interaction of network competenceand absorptive capacity. Also examined cooperation governance forms as a moderatorbetween the relationship of network competence and innovation value chain. Themain conclusions included the following aspects:First, introduced the product complexity and inter-organization patternedinteractions into cooperative innovation process.Determined the best mode ofinter-organization cooperation, when the product complexity and inter-organizationpatterned interactions changed.Second, the relationship of network competence and innovation value chain hadbeen validated. In the product idea gengeration, network visioning competence,network configuration competence and relationship management competence hadsignificant direct effect on idea gengeration; in the idea conversion, networkconfiguration competence had significant direct effect on idea conversion; in the ideadiffusion, network configuration competence, relationship management competenceand portfolio management competence had significant direct effect on idea diffusion.Third, the relationship of absorptive capacity and innovation value chain hadbeen validated. In the product idea gengeration, knowledge acquisition capacity hadsignificant direct effect on idea gengeration; in the idea conversion, knowledgeassimilation capacity, knowledge transformation capacity and knowledge exploitationcapacity had significant direct effect on idea conversion; in the idea diffusion,knowledge acquisition capacity, knowledge transformation capacity and knowledgeexploitation capacity had significant direct effect on idea diffusion. Fourth, the interaction of network competence and absorptive capacity had beenvalidated. The influence of network competence on absorptive capacity: relationshipmanagement competence and portfolio management competence had significantdirect effect on knowledge acquisition capacity; the influence of absorptive capacityon network competence: knowledge exploitation capacity had significant direct effecton network visioning competence, network configuration competence. Networkcompetence can contribute to the enhancement of absorptive capacity, absorptivecapacity can further optimize the network competence.Fifth, cooperation governance forms as a moderator between the relationship ofnetwork competence and innovation value chain had been validated. Relationalgovernance forms as a moderator between the relationship of network competenceand idea gengeration, and contractual governance forms as a moderator between therelationship of network competence and idea conversion, idea diffusion.With the data of chinese enterprises, the mechanism of network competence,absorptive capacity and innovation value chain had been validated, and the networktheory and innovation theory had been enriched, and proposed a framework of fosternetwork competence and absorptive capacity with the higher agree with localconditions.
