The growing space problem and the paradox of space in modern China, as well as thespatial turn of western social criticism theory, put forward the new requirements of thehistorical materialism, which means historical materialism must be able to catch all ofthese questions and response them theoretically. Although there’s no lack of spatialdimension in historical materialism, they’re kind of sheltered in tradition. In order to buildthe space theory of historical materialism, the author tried to excavate spatial dimensionfrom “Das Kapital”, to seek the modern value of these spatial dimension.“Das Kapital”reveals the quality and characteristic as well as immanent contradiction and regularitytrend of capital, it also reveals the profit-push and expansivity of the logic of capital and itshistorical limit. After all, the background of “Das Kapital” was industrial capital and innowadays the capital has a brand new form and gets rid off crisis and by spatialization. Thecapital spatialization is existing form of the capital. No matter what happened to the capitalexistence form in the contemporary, the nature of the capital has not changed. The authortried to describe the process and conditions of capital spatialization on the dimension ofspace and capital, to expand and deepen critique of capital by space criticism, culturalcriticism. There are five chapters in the main part. The first part defined some conception ofcapital spatialization including capital, social pace and so on. On space, mostly based onMarxism by the viewpoints of value, relationships, processes. By capital spatialization, theauthor means how the capital occupies the spaces and manufactures special spaces by wichkind of space structure when it establishes as a production mode. The second partexplained the spatialization of industrial capital. Although “Das Kapital” was based on industrial capitalism, Marx revealed the secret of capital and its historical limits. Theexistence of capital had to deprive the Nature and Laborer, take the city as its main place, and set up an unbalanced space structure on every level. Marx also analyzed agricultureand real estate by rent theory in “Das Kapital”. In the third part of this paper the authortook contemporary capital spatialization as the primary scheme to overcome thecontradiction of excessive accumulation. No matter Imperialism or Neo-imperialism,Fordism or Flexible accumulation system, or the space economy of urban. Chapter fouranalyzed the contemporary form of capital spatialization, the author concluded that theevolution of capital shape has a fundamental effect of space diversity. The capital form wasmade up by commercial capital, industrial capital, financial capital and intellectual capital, fictitious capital. As the space occupied by capital is getting bigger and bigger, as well asthe contradictions between all of the capital form, the space contradiction inside Capitalismis becoming more and more obvious. Finally, chapter five explained the culture conditionsof the capital spatialization, include the contemporary development of fetishisn, consumerism, rationalism and post-modernism. The author revealed the cultural crisis, spiritual crisis and life crisis of Contemporary Capitalism through the change of inexperience in time and space.
