In the pape the two-year-old seedlings for different provenances/families of Cyclocaryapaliurus were studied to learn their seedling growth characters, photosynthesis indexes and thecontent of medicinal compositions in Cyclocarya paliurus leaves with the aim of selectingsuperior provenances/families according to the different goals of end utilization. The main resultswere as follows:1) There were significant differences in seedling growth characters among differentprovenances. So did photosynthesis indexes in the same stage. The high growth of Cyclocaryapaliurus continued throughout the growing season. So it belonged to the whole period of growth.2) The seedling growth characters, photosynthesis indexes showed trend of ascend tonorthwest and northeast variation, while a center (crossing of112°E and24°N)-round variationexisted.3) There were significant differences in the content of medicinal compositions in leaves oftwo-year-old seedlings Cyclocarya paliurus every mouth. The best using time of microelement andpolysaeeharides in Cyclocarya paliurus leaves was October. The best using time of β-sitostero and totaltriterpenes in Cyclocarya paliurus leaves was September. And the best using time of Fe and Zn inCyclocarya paliurus leaves was July. The best using time of Cu in Cyclocarya paliurus leaves wasSeptember. The best using time of Mn in Cyclocarya paliurus leaves was October.4)And the content of medicinal compositions in leaves of two-year-old seedlings displayedan obvious trend of geographical variation. The content of microelemen in leaves of two-year-oldseedlings displayed an same trend of geographical variation. It showed trend of ascend tonorthwest and northeast variation while a center(crossing of112°E and24°N)-round variationexisted. The content of quercetin in leaves of two-year-old seedlings of Cyclocarya paliurusshowed trend of descend to southwest and southeast variation while a center(crossing of116°Eand31°N)-round variation existed. The content of isoquercirtrin in leaves of two-year-oldseedlings of Cyclocarya paliurus showed trend of descend around two centers(crossing of116°Eand30°N, crossing of110°E and26°N)-round variation existed. The content of kaempferol inleaves of two-year-old seedlings of Cyclocarya paliurus showed trend of descend to southwestand southeast variation while a center(crossing of110°E and29°N)-round variation existed. The content of β-sitosterol in leaves of two-year-old seedlings of Cyclocarya paliurus showed trendof descend around two centers(crossing of118°E and30°N, crossing of108°E and26°N)-roundvariation existed. The content of total triterpenes in leaves of two-year-old seedlings ofCyclocarya paliurus showed trend of descend around a center(crossing of116°E and31°N)-round variation existed. The content of polysaeeharides in leaves of two-year-oldseedlings of Cyclocarya paliurus showed trend of descend around a center(crossing of109°E and26°N)-round variation existed.5)The content and the yield per plant of microelement,β-sitosterol, total triterpenes in theleaves were the greatest in different tissue organs for different provenances/families ofCyclocarya paliurus. The content and the yield per plant in the stem were the lowest. The contentand the yield per plant in the root was placed in the middle. The content of polysaeeharides in the leaves were the greatest in different tissue organs fordifferent provenances/families of Cyclocarya paliurus. The content in the stem were the lowest. The content t in the root was placed in the middle. The yield per plant of polysaeeharides in the root s were the greatest in different tissueorgans for different provenances/families of Cyclocarya paliurus. The yield per plant in the stemwere the lowest. The yield per plant in the root was placed in the middle.6)There were not significant differences in the content of microelement,β-sitosterol inleaves of seedlings Cyclocarya paliurus among different ages. There were significant differencesin the content of total triterpenes, polysaeeharides in leaves of seedlings Cyclocarya paliurusamong different ages.7) Superior provenances/families for the different goals were evaluated.Provenances for fine timber production: Yunnan Kunming, Guizhou Jianhe, JiangxiLushan, Zhejiang Anji;Superior families for timber: Jian2#, Lu6#,He10#, Lu8#,Yun4#, Yun2#, Lu2#,Yun5#Provenances for medical utilization: Anhui Shucheng, Jiangxi Lushan, Zhejiang Anji, HubeiHefengSuperior families for medical utilization: Lu2#,Lu6#, He11#,Shu4#, An5#,Lu4#, Zhang5#, Jiang2#...
