Toshio Hosokawa (1955-) is one of distinguished Japanese composer in the world after Toru Takemitsu. The music composition of Hosokawa is not only based on the Asian traditional arts and aesthetics ideas, but also absorbed the techniques such as the "Holon", which comes from his teacher Isang Yun, and that of the Western avant-garde. He struggles to find his own voice in the phenomenon that the modern composition business seems to be assimilated. He integrates the modern composition technique into his individual music language which formed his music style. At the meanwhile, Hosokawa has innovated some Asian traditional music forms, especially on the Gagaku.Hosokawa is a prolific composer, and his chamber music not only occupied a large part of his composition, but also represented his composition technique and music style directly. So this article is a research about his skill on chamber music works, the process of the individual style establishment and his ideas which influence the composition.There are four chapters:Chapter I:Brief introduction of Hosokawa’s music road and music style. Chapter II:Focus on the chamber music after1979, analysis the technique based on the pitch, timbre, sound relationship and the structure, in order to interpreted his especial composition method. Chapter III:Analysis three chamber music during the last,30years, Melodia (1979), Fragment11(1989) and Lied (2007), and to introduce his the progress on the composition. Chapter IV is aim at finding the aesthetics and the other ideas which form his individual music language.
