With the combination of " textual research" and "investigation", integration of "partial" and "whole" and comparative analysis, this dissertation probes into FangHui’s "YingKuiLvSui" from the perspectives of edition, style,"Ti" and "Ge" of poetry, version as well as the comments of scholars in Qing Dynasty. The dissertation attempts to explore the study of "YingKuiLvSui" by reflecting on the poetic issues involved in it. Composed of six chapters, the dissertation mainly includes the following five parts:First, A research on the edition of "YingKuiLvSui" is made. The author discusses the controversial issues-whether FangHui prefaces "YingKuiLvSui" and the signature of Song Dynasty is accurate or not. Basing on the argument between "JiangXi" in Late Song and Late Tang, the author reveals the great influence of FangHui’s experience ("born in She County, being "TaiShou in MuZhou") upon his absorption of the essence of poems in Tang and Song Dynasty. Besides, by scanning the comments in "YingKuiLvSui", the author reproduces the authentic, long-lasting edition and unsuccessful revision of the book. The background of FangHui’s edition of the book is also summed up. FangHui is familiar with the theory of "the book of Songs" and "Eight-Line poems".His family learning environment prefers the powerfulness of poems. Enlightened by "TiaoXiYuYinCongHua", FangHui shifts his interest on neat and simple poems to "JiangXi" poems. All of those and his careful selection of teachers and friends enable him to edit the book "YingKuiLvSui". His edition aims at reviving the refined and elegant poems, perfecting the poem in Late Tang,"JiangXi" and "Eight-Line poems", and revealing the poetic significance of "YingKuiLvSui"-the essence of "Eight-Line poems" in Tang and Song Dynasty. Second, the dissertation studies the style of "YingKuiLvSui". With both poetry anthology and annotation in it, the book is edited generally according to the classification, style, poet, dynasty of the poetry. Its edition also includes preface, sub-preface, punctuation and comment. The book offers a unique style of classification, anthology and annotation, fully revealing FangHui’s poetic idea; however, it also suffers from some form of disorder.Third, the dissertation studies "Ti" and "Ge" of the poetry. On the basis of Tang and Song poetry, the author attempts to solve three important poetic issues-FangHui’s theory that "Eight-Line poem" is the essence of poems, FangHui’s absorption of both Tang and Song poems and FangHui’s theory of poetic "Ge". The dissertation holds the following opinions that:First of all, by introducing "Eight-Line poem" into the poetic system, FangHui emphasizes that "Eight-Line poem" and ancient poems are linked with each other in essence and function. He elaborates on the skill of "Eight-Line poem" writing and holds the ingenious "Eight-Line poem" in high esteem. FangHui regards the two aesthetic styles "GeGao" and "PingDan" favored by people who return to the ancient as the most important aesthetic criteria of "Eight-Line poem". FangHui’s attempts to prove that "Eight-Line poem" is the essence of poem aims at criticizing the demerits of his times, reading the same goal as that of people who return to the ancient. Apart from the above, FangHui remains consistent in his advocacy of absorbing Tang and Song poems and breaking the narrow mind. Basing on DuFu, FangHui divides the poetic system into "Late Tang" and "JiangXi", treating equally with Tang and Song poems. His advocacy of "GeGao","PingDan", delication, smoothness and elegance also reveals his absorption of both Tang and Song poems. Besides, to completely master FangHui’s theory of poem writing, we should realize that Fang’s theory emphasizes the nature of poem, advocates flexible law and tries to break the fixed law. Meanwhile, FangHui holds that poem writing should follow the regular rules with less "BianTi".Fourth, the dissertation studies the version of "YingKuiLvSui". Apart from the controversial Yuan Dynasty block-printed edition, Early-Ming Dynasty block-printed edition, the pocket edition from the book mill in JiaJing,(Ming Dynasty) the editions of full-length comment, of selected comment and of collected comment are made a detailed study of. The author carries out an investigation into their origin, current state and the problems appearing in people’s copying and spreading.Fifth, the dissertation studies the comment made by scholars in Qing Dynasty. In terms of the study of the above edition, the author makes a profound study of the comments made by FengShu, FengBan, Zhashenxing, HeZhuo, JiYun and XuYinfang to explore their poetic ideas and discuss the features of their comments. On the other hand, from the perspective of spread and acceptance, the author reflects on FangHui’s poetic idea in order to have a comprehensive and in-depth grasp of it.
