| Abstract:The research on writers group is an important component of the study of literary history. In modern times great changes have taken place in politics, economy and culture. With the development of the Enlightenment, enlightenment trends in literature have begun. Critics refer to this period as the enlightenment period and the literature in this period is called enlightenment literature whose authors are named as intellectual writers. Modern writers are a group of people who appear and awake due to social and cultural reality. They are witnesses, thinkers and participants of contemporary social development. In the social and cultural environment, they participated in various cultural activities in their unique ways at that time. They wrote and translated foreign excellent works, saved classical documents, edited and published teaching materials, launched journals, set up institutes, founded publishing houses and almost did everything in order to awaken their fellow ignorant Mongolians. This thesis employs authors’biographies, diaries, letters, memoirs, old newspapers and so on as materials to thoroughly and systematically study modern Mongolian writers group.The thesis is composed of several parts, such as introduction, main body (from chapter one to chapter three), conclusion, reference, appendix and so on. The introduction mainly explains the reason of selecting this subject, previous research results, methods and significance. Chapter one analyzes the background of the formation of Mongolian writers group. The formation of authors which is closely connected with politics, economy and cultural environment of that time is a special cultural phenomenon, and has its particular forming process. This chapter deals with the formation of writers group from three aspects, which are political environment, economic system and cultural atmosphere. It thoroughly discusses writers’parentage, regional distribution, age structure, gender structure and knowledge structure. According to the analysis of authors’ several roles in the society, it finally sums up their multiple complexities. Chapter two discusses a variety of writers group’s social activities among which it illustrates education, publishing and press industry in detail. It approves modern writers’ cultural activities to vitalize the nation, for example opening schools, starting the publishing and launching journals. These writers have made great contribution to enlightening the public, protecting national culture and popularizing knowledge. Chapter three divides modern writers group’s production into four genres, which are poetry, essay, novel and drama. It thoroughly analyzes these four genres through specific works which embody writers’ thoughts. In order to comprehend their ideas, we must study their works in detail. According to the division of genres of works, this chapter generalizes the concepts of paying attention to inheritance and innovation, highlighting tragedy consciousness and advocating the Enlightenment.The thesis strives to put the writers group into a specific historical environment and studies the objective existence, origin, structure and formation of writers group. According to the systematic analysis of writers group’s social activities and writing, it reviews writers group’s formation and development and summarize its uniqueness. |
