Research On Key Terms Of Cognitive Terminology

As the modern scientific problems become more complex, the study of asingle subject or a particular field has been behind the times. The study of thepenetration and integration of different subjects has become the breakthrough pointof academic development and innovation. The interdisciplinary research has become anecessary way to academic innovation. The cognitive terminology is the integration ofcognitive linguistics and the terminology in this context. Metaphorization,conceptualization, categorization, world picture and a series of concepts are introducedfrom the cognitive linguistics, and their application has formed their own researchobjects, methods, mechanism, problems and developping trends. In this paper, theformation and development of the above terms are examined, and the conceptualcontent as well as the cognitive theory are analyzed, also the theory system will berevealed. The thesis pays attention to the differences between the traditionalterminology and cognitive terminology as well as the characteristics and advantagesof the cognitive terminology, and a new point of view about terms, the term system andthe term discourse is formed. This paper illustrates the problems of traditional Chinesemedicine terms based on the prototype category theory, cognitive theory of metaphor,and the world picture theory. The traditional Chinese medicine terms are studiedbecause on the one hand Chinese medicine embodies Chinese classical philosophy andancient Chinese language culture, that are important parts of Chinese traditional culture,and on the other hand, Chinese medicine terms can’t be explained in the traditionalterminology, which even becomes one of the arguments for whether Chinese medicineis science. However, it is reasonable and important to study Chinese medicine terms interms of cognitive terminology, which reflects the Chinese people’s understanding oflife. Therefore, the research of core terms of cognitive terminology can not only enrichand perfect the theory system of terminology, but also solve the problem of the specific industry terms.
