The purpose of this study was to reveal how space production theories of national folksports shaped cultural identity and were influenced by it under the Chinesemodernization. The research question was best answered through a qualitative,phenomenological study that depicted the lived experiences of individuals in theirown voice, which example for Yi People wrestling by sports science, anthropology,and sociology and so on. The four group identities examined were:1) self-identity,2)ethnic identities3) national identities, and4) country identity. One of the researcher‘sgoals was to advance our understanding of ethnic and national and country identities byexamining the influence of folk sports in villages, cities festivals, as well as the "national Games " in political space. An additional goal was to meet the need of beliefsin spiritual space by regional and religious identities as a component of one‘s nationalidentity. The third goal was to meet self-identity and the needs of modern life in socialspace by the utilitarian use. In short, national folk sport and these identities have beeninextricably linked by "Wu Elaboration” under modernization transformation.1The reason why select Yi wrestling as sample to research space production of nationalfolk sport are its cultural, political, and social transformation in modern well. It serviceat self, ethnic, national and country identity of the person which has produced nationalfolk sports space typically.2Modernization transformation of national folk sport is reflected in the "political,spiritual and social" space production, characterized as "Wu Elaboration " patterns ofbehavior and thought schemata: in the political space, such as villages, cities andcountry scene transitions, make the ethnic, national, country identity contextually andlevelly to meet the needs of body awareness and collective attribution of emotionalattachment. In the spiritual space of the individual and society, subjectivepsychological and social environment, etc., there were the driving forces, normativeforce, orientation force, binding to beyond materialized world. In the social space,gender identity reflect as understanding the meaning of life, social responsibility, which provides the driving force behind the social construction of gender, showingconsistent with social expectations inherent self-identity.3"Wu Elaboration " in the national folk sports practice, on the one hand, means that itassigned people to political, spiritual and social life space, achieving its collectiveexpression attribution, seeking spiritual transcendence, self-concept of existence valueof physical evidence. On the other hand, it means that national folk sport connectthese all types of space subject as a complete individual to meet the mutuality ofbeing.4Characterization of national folk sports in the political space production is the spacesegmentation and juxtaposition: first, in village political space, the performance ofnational folk sports form the " common language " of "man-God-the ancestralspirits-Land-Sports "to meet in the village on the ethnic identity in the accessiblecommunity. Second, with a strong rally in the tourism economy of local economicdevelopment, the performance from villages to cities, national folk sport performanceas the common language of " God-ancestral-Sports "to promote needs aboutnational identity. Third, at the country level" Games "series, ethnic minority folksports become engaged in" professional "athletics activities to form a" national-national-sports "common language making it to the national culture and nationalidentity exchange space production. The group identities of ethnicity, national andcountry identity embodiment space both segmentation and juxtaposition, where theyachieve harmony by "Wu Elaboration” of national folk sport.5The spirit space production of national folk sports embodied in the individual andsocial body, the subjective and the objective environment, psychological latitude"decomposition" and "connection". On the one hand, the decomposition of nationalfolk sport means that it allocate person1) to physical and mental experience in self,social and country level;2) to man, ghosts, gods, animals and plants as well as classeson the totem worship;3) and even physical activity about head, hands, feet and otherbody schema location on human anatomy; these formation of individual subjectivityspace activities. On the other hand, connect body, interpersonal aspects of directionalcommunication, established social habits to the main spiritual life by national folk sport "Wu Elaboration", for the production of different levels of political spacesequence identity to provide the driving force, their situational binding, and the mainforce values and behavioral norms force, and ultimately the construction of humansubjectivity.6National folk sports social space production by "Wu Elaboration " extends to thesubject matter of the body show through its acquisition of "gender norms", that is, inboth ideological and practical operational level of discourse for physical disciplinegender identity: in common childhood, national folk sports become shaping children’sstrong physical and aggressive mental, making people acculturate as the beliefstructure of the individual spirit by warrior worship and polite which provide theirself-identities.In short, national folk sports space production formed a experience that through"physical activity mode" service "integration of national identity and participantsprofessionalization","sacred national identity and personnel generalization,""universal body of the person’s self-identity", which united in the main body bymaterialized. It is " Wu Elaboration " that decomposition people into all aspects of lifeto practice the meaning of human life; at same time, it is a " Wu Elaboration " thatconnect different hierarchy identity (individuals, groups, social, national), differentspecies (human and animal and plant), different forces (forces of nature and thesupernatural forces) to a body of subjectivity. So, when we research on national folksport does not detached its practice subject, because any activity is the particularperson behavior in particular time and space. Also, it has enriched our understandingabout the nature of culture of life and the feature of merge the barbaric andcivilization in national folk sports.
