Research On The Industrial Development Pattern In China’s Typical Coal Area

Energy is the material basis of economic and social development and is also thematerial security for human society. Shanxi Province is an important energy base andimportant typical coal economic zone of China. The paper takes Shanxi Province asan example to study industrial development pattern, which can boost economicsustainable development and has important theoretical and practical significance inrealizing the goal of the economic structure adjustment for the18th party congress.On the theory bases of economic growth and industrial economics, this paperanalyzes the relationship between economic growth and the development of coalindustry, the crowding-out effects of coal industry on other industries and themechanism of economic growth in Shanxi Province. According to the results above,the paper optimizes the development pattern of the industries in Shanxi Province andforms the following innovative achievements:(1) Verify the relationship between coal development and economic growth inShanxi province using the cointegration test and the Granger test. The results showthat there is a bidirectional causality between economic growth and coal production inthe long term, however, there is only a unidirectional causality between economicgrowth and coal consumption, namely economic growth promotes coal consumption.(2) Calculate the crowding-out effects on other industries caused by coalindustry in Shanxi province based on the fact that coal industry is the leading industryin Shanxi Province. Based on different classification and the availability of data dataon industry and the national economy industry in the statistical yearbooks, the papercalculates the crowding-out effects among coal industry, the food industry, textileindustry, coking industry, pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, buildingmaterials industry, metallurgical industry, mechanical industry and electric powerindustry nine industries, agriculture forestry animal husbandry and fishery,manufacturing, electricity gas and water production and supply industry, construction,transportation, storage and postal industry, financial industry, real estate industry andeducation nine industries. The results show that coal industry has crowding-in effects on manufacturing and real estate industry, while it has crowding-out effects on foodindustry, building materials industry and mechanical industry.(3) Study on the driving factors of economic growth in Shanxi Province frommulti-aspects. This paper studies on the mechanism of economic growth mainly fromthree main aspects, which are economic structure effect, demand dynamic effect andelements dynamic effect. The results of empirical analysis showreadjusting the industrial structure, optimizing the financial structure, developingeducation and reforming economic system can promote economic growth in ShanxiProvince.(4) Design the optimization scheme of industrial development mode in ShanxiProvince. Estimate investment efficiency, energy efficiency and environmentefficiency in the three industries and seven larger carbon emissions industries in thesecond industry, and use grey linear programming model to optimize the threeindustries in Shanxi Province during the period from2015to2020based on the dataof the years from2007to2011. The results show that with the industrial structureoptimization of the years from2015to2020, three industrial structure in ShanxiProvince can adjust from5.62:46.16:48.22in2015to5.88:40.58:53.54in2020. Theoutput value of the first industry accounting for the proportion of gross nationalproduct basically unchanged. The output value of the second industry accounting forthe proportion of gross national product continues declining. And the output value ofthe tertiary industry accounting for the proportion of gross national product goes upsteadily, which are consistent with the planning of industry development in ShanxiProvince. In the seven larger carbon emissions industries in the second industry, theoutput value of coal industry accounting for the proportion of the second industry’sgross national product continues increasing, while the outputs value of the other sixindustries accounting for the proportion of the second industry’s gross nationalproduct continues declining, which show the growth of the outputs value in the othersix industries are smaller than that in coal industry.
