Research On The Marine Thought Of Xi Jingping

Today, oceans play a much more important role in the economic and social development of a nation. Countries all over the world have raised their awareness of the importance of the oceans at different levels. More and more developed and developing countries have taken marine development and protection as the state’s economic and social development strategy. Since 1949, China has made great achievements in marine programs. However, more attention can be paid to marine development and the degree of utilizing and exploiting marine resources is far from enough. Since the reform and opening up and especially in recent years, China has gradually attached more importance to the ocean and has brought it into its general picture of development, along with the deepening reform and opening-up and requirement of Chinese economic and social development. Concerns about marine issues and exploitation and protection of the oceans have been one of the priorities of the Party and state as well as a national consensus. Especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core is faced with a new situation of the exploitation and management of the oceans in an international arena. In order to achieve the strategic objectives of building a well-off society in an all-round way and to realize the dream of the Chinese nation’s rejuvenation, the Party has brought the marine strategy of our nation to a new height. On the basis of summarizing the experiences and lessons of China’s marine management, Xi Jinping, as the core leader of the Party and state, proposed a series of new opinions and requirements towards marine issues and formed his own marine thought. The thought represents the crystallized wisdom of the Party and state in regard of marine strategy. It is also the latest outcome of the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics as well as the guiding principles of the development of marine programs and building China into a maritime power. It is one of the urgent tasks to review and research Xi Jinping’s marine thought, which has both theoretical and practical significance.This thesis has six chapters. The first chapter provides a general review on the domestic and international background of the form of Xi Jinping’s marine thought and its relevant studies.In the second chapter, an analysis of theoretical and practical basis of his marine thought will be conducted. Through summarizing and teasing out the major parts ofXi Jinping’s marine thought, the third chapter will focus on the analysis and summary of achievements of each part, major development process and future trends.Then in the next chapter, the thesis will sum up the features of the times that Xi Jinping’s marine thought embodies and conduct an in-depth analysis of its guiding significance in theory and practice of developing marine programs of socialism with Chinese characteristics.It is followed by Chapter 5 which discusses the contemporary values of his marine thought. Under the guidance of Xi’s marine thought and by drawing on the successful experiences of marine development in foreign countries,The final chapter will have an investigation of solutions that can be adopted to accelerate the speed of building China into a maritime power.
