Geological data is a kind of important strategic information resource,which support for national security and international competitiveness.Geological data obtains the characteristics of long cycle,high cost,and high risk in part of the work.It can greatly reduce the repeated investment in geological work by promoting users to find and use geological data better.But geological data are complex data of all kinds of structured data,semi-structured data,and multiple categories of information resources,which is a typical big data entity.Each professional field has its own directory system,the rules are relatively independent and difficult to integrate.This paper is aimed at the bottleneck problem,start from the bottom,to establish perfect system of metadata,and combined with the application of means of information system,management efficiency and enhance the rate of geological data,the geological work achievements as the basis,to provide authoritative data services for the national economic construction.Based on the task of the construction of National Geological Data Center,the research is supported by national geological survey and mineral resource evaluation projects.Research is carried out in geological information metadata modeling,database designing and cataloging system designing and realization.Also based on the standards of catalog service,carry out research in metadata federated search realization.The main achievement and innovation of this paper are as follows:i.Developed new metadata model based on the original data directory,files issued by innovative design level metadata model and file metadata model by hierarchical relationship.On the basis of standards and norms,the industry characteristics of China's geological work have been integrated.It can not only guarantee metadata exchange with international geological institutions,but also meet the needs of metadata cataloging in national geological data Museum.ii.Designed geological metadata database which including thematic coding and organization make the metadata have the quality of linked-data applications,and laid a solid foundation for the construction of digital geological resources sharing and distribution system.iii.Design and implement a metadata data cataloging system,improve the recording efficiency,and ensure the quality of data records.Through the control of information technology,the quality of cataloguing metadata of geological data is effectively ensured,and the development of metadata cataloging work is supported for a long period of time,which ensures the efficient and high-quality completion of cataloguing work.iv.The use of directory sharing and data exchange international standards as the technical line,research carried on in design and implementation of metadata federated search platform.The metadata of geological survey results were encapsulated in accordance with international standards such as CSW of OGC and docked with the metadata standardization services of international geological institutes,such as China's National Bureau of Surveying and Mapping,China's National Development and Reform Commission,U.S.Government's data.gov.Geoscience Australia,British Geological Survey,EURO INSPIRE.Which achieves a one-stop query of geological digital resources.v.The massive,multi-scale,multi-disciplinary,and all over heterogeneous digital resource information repository managed by this metadata model can be uniformly retrieved and scheduled according to the unified standard and specification,so as to ensure the recall and precision of information.It lays the foundation for data sharing service of geological data.It provides some data discovery service for geological evaluation and environmental protection projects already.
