| Pet animal treatment institution is the duty to provide protection for pet health and maintain public health and safety.In recent years,Pet treatment institution in Guiyang is developing rapidly,which has played an important role in social economic development of Guiyang City.However,there still are some problems with the developmental process,which have become the bottlenecks restricting further development of pet treatment in Guiyang city.Therefore,on the basis of survey by visit,questionnaire and data query,the author gave a comprehensive analysis by SWOT method on strength,weakness,opportunity and threat for the development of Guiyang pet treatment institution,and put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions,in order to provide useful references for the healthy and sustainable development of pet treatment institution in Guiyang City.1.Analysis on developmental scale of pet treatment institution in Guiyang City.In this section,an investigation and analysis was carried out on numbers of pet clinics,operating properties,geographical distribution,and turnover for Pet animal treatment institution in Guiyang city.The results showed that in Guiyang city,there were 28 pet clinics registered normally,11 of them were licenced,27 of them were privately operated,and 1 of them was Publicly run.Most of them were located in Nanming District and Yunyan District where people's income was the highest-earning.Monthly mean turnover was 82 thousands?.The results indicated that the total numbers of pet clinics in Guiyang was not more,most of pet clinics were run personally,and the proportion of qualification was lower.Pet clinics were mainly distributed into economically developed areas.There still was a larger upgrading space in turnover.2.Analysis on construction of software and hardware for pet treatment institution in Guiyang City.In this section,developmental status of software and hardware of Guiyang pet treatment institution was analyzed by questionnaire and literature survey.Results showed that in terms of software,the quantities of practicing veterinarians was 217,employees had mainly the degree of college and bachelor,and related regulatory systems were gradually improved,but resolving disputes related to pet health laws and regulations document had not been issued,and the information about the treatment institution-building had been began gradually;in terms of hardware,medical equipments have being become more perfect and advanced,and high-value equipments have been gradually increased,showing that the hardwares were with a better developmental trend.3.Analysis on frequent disease and vaccination status for pets at clinic in Guiyang City.In this section,kinds of disease and vaccination status were investigated at 28 pet clinics in April 2014 in Guiyang City.The results showed that dog,cat and rabbit were the major pet Species at pet clinics,and their admissions were 4578,1236 and 159 with the proportion of 76.27%?20.59% and 2.66%,respectively.Number of other pets was 29,with a proportion of 0.48%.Canine cases were 3873,occupying the rate of 84.6% of admissions,and the proportion of distribution of infectious diseases,parasitic diseases and common diseases were 61.27%,17.38% and 21.2%,respectively.The common diseases was the most than infectious diseases and parasitic diseases in cats,and their rates were respectively 59.58%,31.02 and 9.3%.The rate of vaccination of imported vaccine was 84.78% and 66.62% in dogs and cats,respectively,and the total rate of vaccination of imported vaccine for dogs and cats was 82.82%.The results indicated that in Guiyang city,pet dogs and pet cats were the major pet breed,and it was necessary for them to vaccinate because of a higher incidence of infectious disease.4.Analysis on developmental bottlenecks and internal management status of pet treatment institution in Guiyang City.Current bottlenecks blocking the development of pet treatment institution in Guiyang City were that the lack of related laws and regulations settling the medical disputes for pets,insufficient medicine variety for pets,slow development related pet industry,and inaccurate development planning etc.The internal management is an important part in pet treatment institution.The results showed that practitioners in pet hospital are with 31.93%,52.09% and 5.66% higher than those at the pet clinic in terms of satisfaction of organizational structure,performance appraisal,and human resources management,respectively,which indicated that the perfect degree of the internal assessment management mechanism in pet hospital,was superior to that in pet clinic.5.SWOT analysis and developmental suggestion on pet treatment in Guiyang City.By SWOT mehtod,the strength,weakness,opportunities and threats of the development of pet treatment institution in Guiyang City were summed up.The outstanding strength is that Guiyang city,with a great deal of pets and a special pet market,is located in the provincial capital,and is the center of pet,and disease diagnosis and treatment industry for pets inGuiyang city is indispensable.Promotion of urbanization process,increases of the number of city population and pets,development and progress of treatment technology,and emphasis of government on the city public health,are bringing good opportunities to the development of pet treatment institution.Weaknesses are relatively backward technology and equipment,lack of experts,partially illegal treatment activities,and shortage of senior technical personnel.Because of lacks of development planning and management,there exist some threats in concentrative regional distribution and unfair competition.Aiming at the need and status of development for pet treatment institution of Guiyang city,we suggested the government to publish " Construction and Development Planning for pet treatment institution of Guiyang city ","construction standards for pet treatment institution of Guiyang city " and " standardized management system for pet treatment institution of Guiyang city",and to implement standardized management,improve management services,increase support,create a good developmental environment,strengthen the construction of pet treatment institution and carry out social supervision and management.Conclusions are as follows:1)At this stage,pet treatment in Guiyang City has achieved some success in development,but still in a lower developmental level,which waits for a further improvement.2)The construction of system for Guiyang pet treatment is still in the exploratory stage,which is badly in need of correct guide and timely norms from related department of animal health authorities.3)The hysteretic level of economic development in Guiyang City has restricted the development of pet treatment at a certain extent,and the establishment of system and the implementation of policy should be effectively combined with the local living standards. |
