Objective:It has been a while to use cervical three-needle acupuncture treatment(Tianzhu Point,Bailao Point,Dazhu Point)to treat cervical spondylosis in the field. This method has acquired considerable effect. In order to further improve the clinical efficacy, and to refer to other Chinese medicine treatment methods,to add traditional Chinese medicine fumigation as combination,to quantify the therapeutic effect, and to compare the differences between traditional method and simple method of using three-needle acupuncture treatment of cervical spondylosis, and further explain the efficacy and mechanism of the combination, thus the mentioned study was conducted. Methods:The study sample were taken from Holistic Wellness TCM Centre(Petaling Jaya,Selangor,Malaysia)and Qi Yuan Tang TCM Centre.Samples were patients who were diagnosed with cervical syndrome(cervical spondylosis),30 patients from each clinic which means 60 persons in total. The samples were randomly picked up according to the outpatient queue number and were classified as "Experimental group" and "Control Group".The"Experimental group" was treated with cervical three-needle acupuncture and fumigation treatment, whereas the control group was only treated with cervical three-needle acupuncture treatment. The Neck Disability Index and the SF-McGill Pain Questionnaire were used as a tool to assess the result of treatment and life quality before and after the treatment. Results:After the studies on the both groups,it showed that the clinical efficacy of both the experimental group and the control group after treatment can be improved, the total effective rate of two groups is 100%.In the further analysis, the excellent rate showed obvious difference, among which the excellent rate of the experimental group was 89.99%,and the excellent and good rate of the control group was 76.70%.After statistical analysis,P<0.05 has statistical significance, which shows that the excellent rate of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group. After comparing the measurement data by using the statistical software SigmaPlot Ver.12,the result was P<0.05 after analysis. The result showed that the" Experimental group" had more satisfied result compared to the "Control Group."When comparing both "Experimental group" and "Control Group" based on The Neck Disability Index(NDI),both groups showed improvement.Yet,the improvement ratio of the"Experimental group" was 80.57%while the improvement ratio for the "Control Group" was 71.92%.In terms of the neck activity, patients showed more neck movement after treatment. In terms of analgesic, according to the data obtained after treatment, the result of combined treatment was more satisfied than just acupuncture treatment alone, with significant(P<0.01),Conclusion:According to the above clinical treatment statistics,it has shown that the combined method of three-needle acupuncture and Chinese medicine fumigation is far more effective than acupuncture method alone(cervical three-needle acupuncture)by assessing the improvement of cervical activity, analgesic and the clinical efficacy indicators. In addition, according to patient's feedback,Chinese medicine fumigation is able to slow down the discomfort caused by acupuncture, this can be regarded as another benefit of using fumigation.
