Ye Shi was a prominent master of Yongjia(??)school and a leading figure in the literature stage at the end of the Southern Song Dynasty.This article tried to promote the research of Ye Shi's important academic thought and literature questions basing on the discussion and interpretation of the text of the works and historical texts.This thesis included five chapters.The first chapter presented Ye Shi's views on political system.The system was the root of political operating mechanism,and the core of Shigong(??)spirit.This chapter hackled Ye Shi's system concept,and held that Ye Shi depicted an ideal institutional system purposing of being moral,pragmatic,versatility,Huangji(??)and morality.Ye Shi opposed fate theory,while focused on human function.He emphasized that emperors and subjects must strengthen moral culture by respecting each other.He criticized the system reform in Southern Song Dyrnasty,and thought it was no use to stick to Ancestral Rules(????)and zhou li(??).The second chapter discussed the theory of six Confucian classics being history,historical method,enlightened historical view.The theory of six Confucian classics being history was not original creation of Ye Shi.Ye Shi perfected the theory and guided his researches.This theory impelled Ye shi to suspect classics and discriminate historical text;helped him to form an analysis thought from history facts and philosophical connotations in order to remedy Han and Song studies;enlightened Ye shi to pay attention to the historical method's effect in compiling history avoiding limited to adversaria.Ye shi discussed historical method by criticizing the historical method of Si maqian(???)fiercely.Because of Si Maqian paying no attention to the analysis of historical materials,changing the style arbitrarily,making mistakes in history justice.This peculiarly point was unlike academic predecessors in East Zhejiang(??),while closely related to the chronicle thesis and promoting the evolution of Yongjia school.The above two points effected Zhang Xuecheng in Qing Dynasty in different degrees.Ye shi's view on history and system reform were not denying history or present.This open-minded view was based on his "things having dual perspective "(????)philosophical viewpoints,also was the thought foundation of Yongjia school.The third chapter discussed Ye Shi's understanding of knowledge,learning objects,learning methods,and the influence on literature.Ye Shi summed up the academic essence as virtues,and pointed out that his theory was not limited to the Confucian classics.His learning methods abide by Confucian theory and substance-rooted.Under the influence of this idea,he formed an ideological literature connotation that Literature should have substantial contents and simple language.The fourth chapter selected the'literature rooted in the six classics 'to investigate the relationship between Ye shi's literature thought and creation literature rooted in the six classics ' developing from his academic thought and regulating the'six classics'to be literary significance and style unified the literature and academic theory.Poetry creation followed Confucian thought and moral cognition,also pursued modest,true and reasonable expression way by physical image,including aesthetic realm of harmonious and natural.Essay creation was merged into historical consciousness,longing for comprehensive article form with classic,history,literature.There were separation between Ye shi's rhythmical prose creation and theory,which was the higher requirements about rhythmical prose.The fifth chapter discussed XiXueJiYanXuMu(??????).This book included three parts of history discussing,philosophical connotations explaining and literary works appreciation,with learning aim and practice testing for discourse features.Based on correspondence with Lv Zuqian's academic and literary,Ye shi added Song Dynasty Collected Works(????)as governance function,showing research characteristics that mixture of literature and philosophical views,cross of literature and history.Ye shi's academic discussion emphasized practical function and results,so concise and practical standards were crucial in appreciation of literary language and text value.By his criticism of the imperial examination essay,he explained the relation between philosophical theory and diction,also the determination of changing political situation.The sixth chapter discussed the Ye Shi's concepts of the book of songs(???).The book of songs(??)belonged to the Confucian classics rather than literature,so his theory of "poetry" showed more academic characteristics than literature.Combined with his personal "dao"(?)theory,the generation of "poem" can be summarized as three creative process:"understanding","feeling","analogy" and using process "melodize for poem".He interpreted the book of songs(?)as a moralists.He discontented the change from scripture to literature because it destroyed the position of the book of songs(??)and made the genre superficial.Ye shi opposed confucius's deleting poems(?????)to respect the history and text;he gave a supplement of the original stories of some poems in Xiao Ya,on the basis of Book of poetry?Mao's poetic Preface?history of Zhou period,proposes to show the education of "ancient kings",to obtain the enlightenment of administer country from the rise and fall of Zhou dynasty.
