The present dissertation is composed of three parts,namely introduction,studies of the Mongolian translations of Lugs kyi bstan bcos skye bog so ba i thigs pa,or Skye bog so ba i things for short(the Mongolian name Rashiyan-u Dusul is used for reference of all editions as a general hereafter),and literature studies of the Tibetan and Mongolian editions of Rashiyan-u Dusul.The part of introduction first introduces the aim of research,literature review,research approaches,and the Tibetan and Mongolian original texts.Then follow an introduction of the formation and transmission of Rashiyan-u Dusul in India and Tibet,the legendary biography of the writer Nagarjuna,and the content and form of the Rashiyan-u Dusul.The second part,studies of the Mongolian translations of Rashiyan-u Dusul,is further composed of three sections.First section discusses the translators,and the time and editions of the Mongolian translations of Rashiyan-u Dusul.This section first elaborates on the biographies and works of the Mongolian Lama translators,and corrected some of erroneous views of former studies.Then it discusses the time of the translations of Rashiyan-u Dusul,and makes a general distinction between those in 18th century and the 19th century.In the end,it gives an account of the all Mongolian editions and their present collections.The second section discusses the relation of the differentMongolian editions from four aspects.Firstly,the author investigates the origin of the newly found manuscript of Rashiyan-u Dusul,and points out that it is a revised and edited edition selected from Gush Lubsangdanjin's translation in Danjuur.Secondly,the author conducted a contrastive study to the two editions of Rashiyan-u Dusul translated respectively by Chahar Gebsh and Buryat Galsangjimba,and concludes that the edition by Galsangjimba is an emended one of the one by Chahar Gebsh,and shows the feature of emendation through comparison of the two editions and the Tibetan edition in Dege Tibetan Ganjuur.Thirdly,through a meticulous comparative analysis of the Mongolian edition by Buryat Nomt Erenchin and the former two Mongolian editions,the author concludes that the edition by Nomt Erenchin is a further emended edition of the one by Buryat Galsangjimba.Besides,the author summarizes the features of emendation by Nomt Erenchin through a comparison between his edition and the Tibetan edition in Dege Tibetan Ganjuur.Fourthly,the author states that the interpretive stories in the newly found edition come from the interpretation of Rashiyan-u Dusul by Dai Guush Agwangdampil.The third section is a study of the relation between the Tibetan and Mongolian editions of Rashiyan-u Dusul from three aspects.Firstly,the author conducts a comparative textual analysis to the four editions of Rashiyan-u Dusul respectively from the four Tibetan editions of Danjuur,namely the editions of Beijing,Junai,Dege and Nartang,and makes a classification of Beijing-Nartang System and Dege-Junai System.Secondly,through a comparative textual study of the various Mongolian and Tibetan editions,the author identifies the origins of the Mongolian translated editions.The edition by Lobsangdanjin in Mongolian Danjuur is from the Beijing-Nartang System of the Tibetan Danjuur,the edition by Dai Guush Agwangdampil and Chahar Gebsh is from the Dege-Junai system;the one by Buryat Galsangjimba and Buryat Nomtu Erinchin is emended according to the Dege-Junai System of the Tibetan Danjuur.Thirdly,the author makes a classification of the Mongolian editions,according to the translation features,into the system of Lobsangdanjin's translation,the system of Agwangdampil's translation and the system of Chahar Gebsh's translation,and further investigated the way of their transmission.The third part,literature studies of the Tibetan and Mongolian editions of Rashiyan-u Dusul,is again composed of three sections.The first section is the Latin transcription and a textual comparison of two Tibetan editions of Rashiyan-u Dusul from Beijing and Dege editions of Tibetan Danjuur respectively,which are selected as the representatives of the two systems.The second section is the Latin translation and textual comparison of the six Mongolian editions referred in the dissertation.The third section is an annotation of the Mongolian editions of Rashiyan-u Dusul,as well as index of the Tibetan and Mongolian editions.
