Addressing Terms Translation Study Of A Dream Of Red Mansions In Korea Version From The Perspective Of Pragmatics

This is a pragmatic study in the paradigm of descriptive translation studies,focusing on the addressing terms in the Korean Version of a Dream of Red Mansions in 2009.It's an attempt to explore the translation rules and the pragmatic factors in the Chinese-Korean translation process,present a comparative study on the address terms of Wang Xifeng bewteen the Korean translation version(China)and the Korean translation version(South Korea),and explore the cultural adaptation of politeness principle,context,speech act theory and conversational implicature theory in Korean translation of address terms.The introduction part of this paper introduces the research purpose,research significance,research methods and research procedures,analyzes and summarizes the previous research,and defines address terms.The first chapter introduces the relevant pragmatic theories,such as politeness principle,context,speech act theory and conversational implicature theory.The second chapter studies the translation rules of kinship terms of a dream of Red Mansions in Korean from a pragmatic perspective.Pragmatic factors have greater influence on the translation of personal reference shift.The study points out that the politeness of kinship terms in the translation will be increased when the speaker need to show praise,flattery or try to make fun of the listener;and the politeness will be decreased in a private conversation when the speaker need to show dissatisfaction or concern.The third chapter studies the translation rules of identity terms of a dream of Red Mansions in Korean from a pragmatic perspective.The study points out that the politeness in the translation will be increased when the speaker need to emphasizing interpretative behavior;and the politeness will be decreased in a private conversation when elders express dissatisfaction or ridicule to the hearer.The fourth chapter discusses the pragmatic factors that restrict the Korean translation of address terms of a dream of Red Mansions from the linguistic context,situational context and social cultural context,which based on the classification of context factors and combined with speech act theory,politeness principle and conversational implicature theory.In linguistic context,the intra sentential context and the above context influence the translation of address terms in Korean versions.In situational context,the social relationship and psychological distance between participants affect the translation of address terms;the face and the actual power of the participants affect the translation of address terms;the openness of communication occasions and the seriousness of conversational atmosphere affect the translation of address terms;the types of speech acts and conversational implicature affect the translation of address terms.In the context of social culture,the different address conventions and the different status of clans in history in China and Korea have influenced the translation of address terms.The fifth chapter analyzes the similarities and differences of Wang Xifeng's address terms in different Korean versions.The paper reaches a conclusion that the South-Korean version pays more attention to distinguish lineal relatives and collateral relatives that affect the translation of address terms while the China-Korean version pays more attention to distinguish clan relatives and affinity.The South-Korean version pays more attention to face-to-face address terms and the power and influence of communicative participants while the China-Korean version pays more attention to the age and generation of communicative participants.The last chapter is the conclusion of this paper.
