A Dream of Red Mansions is one of the four great classical novels in our country, and it is popular with Han, Uygur and other ethnic minority groups, as well as overseas. A Dream of Red Mansions has already been translated into Uyghur version, which is regarded as the classic. The thesis selects the descriptive fragment of dress and adornment of twelve girls in Jinling in the first 80 chapters in the Uyghur version(8 volumes) of A Dream of Red Mansions, which is translated by the translation group of A Dream of Red Mansions and published by Xinjiang People’s Publishing House in March,1979, compares the words of color, workmanship, material, design and ornament in original work and translated version, and analyzes the translation methods and skills, hopes to lay the foundation of scientifically studying the terms of dress and adornment, offers help to the Uyghur and Han bilingual education in Xinjiang.
