As for the original purpose of this paper, the author,as a video maker, has recognized the common imbalance between the technological means and emotional expression in the emerging new media artworks including video art,and hopes to clarify the cause and future trend of the emotional suspension of the video art in the digital era by referring to the history and starting from the context of the era.The paper firstly analyzes the emotion expression characteristics of such medium as painting, photography, movie, television and video, and their relationship with related art contexts of the era before the digital era based on the Simulacra theory of Jean Baudrillard. And then it focuses on the progress of movies' special effects,ACG cultural development, and transformation of the mass media, from graphic communication to video communication, illustrates the macroscopical evolution trend of the cultural phenomena directly in relation to video creation, and explicates direct influences of the digital era on the creation context and specific production modes of video art.Later, the paper analyzes such landmark elements as algorithm, big data, blockchain of the digital era as well as their existence and thinking modes. At last, the author summarizes the paper and expresses the keynote:on one hand, selecting various representative artists and their works from classical and emerging video medium and illustrating emotional expression via the suspension;on another hand, revealing the barrier among the emotion suspension, technical rationality, and emotional resonance caused by modern video art emotion under the influence of the technical medium, and raising questions about the macroscopical aesthetic status in the digital era.
