As the fourth power, media and politics are inseparable. The rapid development of new media brings great changes to communication as well as the world pattern. The Jasmine Revolution in Middle East pushed by social media shows how international politics can be influenced by new media.As two great powers, China-US relation is unavoidably impacted by new media, thus both countries make it as a tool to safeguard national interest. This dissertation for the first time presents the interaction between new media and China-US relationship. On the basis of reviewing and referring to the exiting research, this dissertation makes research for several perspectives, such as technology, history, communication and international studies, etc.This dissertation analyzes American new media diplomacy case by case and presents the new media cross-fire between the two countries. Furthermore, this dissertation put forward ways to manage new media and suggestions for new media diplomacy of China.This dissertation is composed of the introduction and four chapters.
