The Communique of the sixth Plenum of the 17 th CPC Central Committee points out,“We should widely cultivate the national spirit,promote patriotism,collectivism,socialist ideology,enhance national esteem,confidence and pride,revitalize people's patriotism into action,love our motherland and contribute all our strength to the construction of China as the greatest glory against the biggest stigma,harming the national interest and dignity”.As the strong bond of national unity and union,core and the soul of Chinese culture,national spirit is the spiritual support for the survival and development of a nation,and the important measurement of a country's comprehensive strength.Growing with the Chinese five-thousand-year history,Chinese national spirit is closely linked with the destiny of China.In the new era when the world situation,national condition and Party circumstance have profoundly changed,the cultivation of the national spirit has a great influence on the socialism modernization construction with Chinese characteristics,the comprehensive construction process of a well-off society,and the result of the historical mission of Chinese rejuvenation.Adolescents,the hope and future of a nation,will shoulder the responsibility of inheriting and passing down the national spirit.Therefore it is most necessary to cultivate their national spirit.Adhering to the Marxist standpoints,views and approach,this dissertation analyzes the scientific connotation of cultivating contemporary Chinese adolescents' national spirit and its theoretical guidelines,traces back its historical development and practice in China and foreign countries,presents the current situation of adolescents' national spirit fostering,and researches into both theoretic and practical issues of adolescents' national spirit cultivation.The dissertation consists of an introduction and six chapters.The introduction part presents the research topic and its significance.It also reviews related studies and introduces the thread of thoughts,approach and novelty of the research.Chapter One introduces the related concepts and theoretical guidelines for adolescents' national spirit cultivation.Firstly the definition is offered to tell the connotations of national spirit and Chinese national spirit.The theoretical guidelines' explanation follows.Chapter Two traces back the historical of adolescents' national spirit cultivation at home and what we have learned from foreign countries about the topic.It reviews the process of national spirit fostering since the foundation of PRC,summarizes the basic experiences,and offers some inspirations by drawing on the experience of other countries in this field.Chapter Three uncovers the current situation of adolescents' national spirit fostering.It first praises the achievements we have scored.Furthermore,it analyzes the main problems with the youngster's national spirit cultivation.Finally,the causes of the problems are suggested.Chapter Four presents the new situation and advanced concepts for fostering the contemporary young people's national spirit.First,we should be aware of the new situation and realize the chances and challenges imposed by socialist marketing system,economic globalization,opening up and cultural diversity,science development and information age.Also,we should form such advanced concepts as orienting towards young people,keeping close to the young's life,persisting in organization construction and providing the system guarantee.Chapter Five presents the targets,tasks and basic principles.The target of adolescents' national spirit cultivation is to guide young people to set up the common ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics,to enhance their national esteem,confidence and pride,to lead young people to devote to the practice of Chinese great rejuvenation.What's more,it is our most important task to enhance the young's awareness of nation and sense of national identity and to improve the all-round development of the young.We also need to follow some basic principles,such as,principles to combine tradition and modernity,theory and practice,authority and subjectivity,systematization and hierarchy,nationality and openness when we develop our national spirit.Chapter Six tells the core content of adolescents' national spirit cultivation and offers the effective ways.First of all,we should highlight the core content,including patriotism education,ideal and belief education,national fine tradition education,Chinese revolutionary tradition education,nationality equality and solidarity education and creative spirit education.Afterwards,we need to expand channels to cultivate national spirit of young people.We should emphasize the principal position of schools and the important roles of Communist Party and League organizations,attach importance to practices,solve adolescents' practical issues and create a favorable social environment.
