Creativity Development Paths And Policy Implication In Senior High School Based On Multiple Intelligences

Given the background of innovation-driven strategy,in order to address the urgent need of education reform and to promote further investigation of the relationship between multiple intelligences and creativity,this research mainly focuses on four questions as follow:firstly,the analysis of current situation in terms of the development of multiple intelligences and creativity in Senior high school students;secondly,the co-relationship research between the development of intelligence and creativity;thirdly,the influence mechanism through which multiple intelligences impacts on creativity;finally,the policy implication on creativity education based on multiple intelligences theory.4,503 samples,which came from twenty senior high schools in Hangzhou,were subject to statistical analysis.The empirical study was conducted on the relationship between each intelligence and creativity performance.In addition various types of intelligence and balanced condition of multiple intelligences that influence on creativity have been considered.Grounded Theory has also been adopted to navigate interviews of thirty eight individuals in different groups so as to improve the mechanism and approaches of creativity by exploring multiple intelligences and uncovering some influencing factors as well as bottlenecks relating to education and teaching.The research conclusions are shown as follow:Each of the eight kinds of intelligence has a significant positive correlation with creativity,according to the significant level of influence on creativity;the results are listed as follows:visual-spatial intelligence,intrapersonal intelligence,music-rhythm intelligence,logical-mathematical intelligence,bodily-kinesthetic intelligence,naturalist intelligence,interpersonal intelligence and language-word intelligence.Different types of intelligence have different influences on creativity.Research results indicate that the relationship with interpersonal intelligence and creativity is inverted U shape,while art intelligence increases exponentially with creativity.In addition,shape,and mathematical-language intelligence assume S-curve relation with creativity.The relationship between balancing level of multiple intelligences and creativity is quadratic,which implies two extreme cases.The extreme balance and the extreme unbalance of multiple intelligences development are both beneficial to creativity development."Individuation" is the primary reasons for making multiple intelligences promote the development of creativity.Depending on the Grounded Theory in twenty eight categories and three main categories(creativity development barriers,creativity education exploration,multiple intelligence's impact on creativity)to conduct in-depth analysis,the core category which can lead all other sub-categories is concluded,that is to say,through enhancing personalized education,multiple intelligences can promote the development of creativity accordingly.Currently,five major obstacles are identified that hinder the development of creativity:one-sided pursuit of enrollment rate,lack of teachers and teaching materials,dearth of teaching evaluation on creativity,homogeneous education system,and no evaluation of creativity within examinations,etc.And the fundamental obstacle lies in the "utilitarian social culture".For the development of creativity,we have extracted fourteen ways according to the application of Grounded Theory.The club activities are considered to be the most effective way.Then opening the international classes or curricula,discipline competitions,display platforms from the school(such as the Theme Cultural Festival),building the open laboratories,cultivating the innovative campus culture,starting the elective courses and so on are in the second place.And at the same time,Classified and Stratified Educational System and Mobile Learning System are the most innovation of the educational model recognized by the teachers and students.We should pay more attention to leading and motivating the students' autonomy.And we also should set up Inquiry-based Class,Flipped Classroom,Massive Open Online Course and other innovation of the educational models which is effective to the development of creativity.Multiple intelligences leave a significant influence on the development of creativity.There are five approaches to the creativity development in the view of multiple intelligences,including improving the operational ability(practice and laboratory courses),setting up art curricula,establishing robot class or activities,simulating the real social environment,establishing extracurricular practical courses and focusing on teamwork.Microlecture is the most popular way in the innovation of the educational models which pays attention to the development of multiple intelligence.And others include realizing knowledge visualization and materialization,using charts,encouraging the different approaches to solving problems(cultivate divergent thinking),applying multimedia technology reasonably and so on.Base on the theoretical analysis above,focusing education management and didactical innovation,the thesis proposed a few policy implications for different stakeholder of creativity development:The government should put the creative development in the prominent position of education reform;the senior school should reconstruct the education and didactical system of student creativity training,the families should promote democracy,respect and tolerance of the family education atmosphere,the community should further create a cultural ecology to encourage innovation and to tolerate failure.The originality of this research lies in the three following aspects:First,the clarification of the relationship between creativity and different types of intelligence.It has certain theoretical significance to further research in the realm of creativity.Second,index of multiple intelligences balance coefficient(BIMI)is introduced to investigate the relationship between the balance coefficient of multiple intelligences and creativity.Nowadays,the research on multiple intelligences always focuses on the development of single intelligence.The consideration to the balanced and coordinated development of multiple intelligences is relatively limited.Therefore,BIMI coefficient is an exploratory development to relative researches.Thirdly,this research casts light on the mechanism and ways of increasing the creativity through multiple intelligences based on Grounded Theory.The conclusion demonstrates that individuation is the root cause for the multiple intelligences to promote creativity development.This conclusion is beneficial to the different structures of multiple intelligences and the tendency of students to carry out the development strategy of targeted creativity.And at the same time,it provides the empirical theoretical basis to promote the policy of students' creativity.
