Since the middle and late 1990s, the floating population of migrant workers change their moving type from go out for work alone to with their husband or wife, followed by the large number of migrant children growing rapidly. The thinking mode, behavior style, and living habit of migrant children with the mark of their hometown, which makes them different from the urban children in many ways. To some extent, migrant children inherited the weakness social status of their parents, how was their situation of disadvantaged children after they entering the city? Whether they are as described in the previous research of suffered discrimination events, discrimination against consciousness? This study attempts to answer the following two questions:first, what the aspects of migrant children suffered discrimination mainly comes from? Second, how do they deal with and explain the discrimination that they perceived?Through the in-depth interview with in K primary school of C city, we got firsthand material about admission policy, school life, family status, their own feelings of migrant children, panoramically reveals the real life of the migrant children, reappear the discrimination they encountered, explain their discrimination of experience and understanding. Analysis the discrimination of these disadvantaged migrant children in reality, excavation the generated reasons behind the discrimination of consciousness. This study found that:First, the stigma perception of migrant children is by the interaction of external environment (e.g. institution, school, family, etc.) and internal individual factors (personality, attributional pattern, cognitive competence, etc.). The stigma perception of migrant children are mainly come from interpersonal communication (mainly in school), the intense feeling of stigma perception that they feel is closely related to their personal experience, life, and study.Second, when environmental factors are the same, the migrant children's individual factors(such as personality and cognitive ability, etc.)has played a key role in the discrimination, which affected the formation and development of the stigma perception. Means the individual migrant children has different feeling and understanding on the same event.Third, when discrimination experience enter into long-term memory, migrant children will form relatively stable stigma perception. When facing similar situation or familiar scene of discrimination again, or just confronted with negative, the unfair treatment, the memory of discrimination could be activate, and had a negative effect on children's perception. Means migrant children who has experience of discrimination are more likely to feel the discrimination from others.Fourth, migrant children perceived discrimination is not always an objective fact. As a result of the cognitive path dependence, self-serving attribution bias and the negative escape of discrimination, in the face of the negative events, for the purpose of self-protection, part of the migrant children will be attributed the negative results to the personal identity.
