| The economic development of China has turned into the station of new normal these years.The factor supply conditions are changing obviously.The development motivation,comparative advantage and external environment of manufacturing industry have seen better days.The old patterns of scale expansion,investment-driven and foreign capital direction are unsustainable.Developing advanced manufacturing industry,pushing the manufacturing industry to the success of value chain,promoting the traditional extensive development pattern to the new pattern of intensive and high efficiency,green low-carbon and sustainable development,which have become one of the important strategic choices of supply-side structural reform.Under the circumstance of foreign direct investment and the weakness of foreign trade export growth,carrying out the strategy of "Going Out",especially carrying out the outward foreign direct investment(OFDI)taking the production factors circulating as the core,achieving the benign interaction of OFDI and advanced manufacturing industry development,which will help us to catch the opportunity of the world economy transformation,accumulate production factors and innovation resource in all aspects around the world,push the advanced manufacturing industry into capacity layout,market expanding,technical progress and resources integration,and urge the advanced manufacturing industry to make great changes.On the basis of related researches both home and abroad on foreign direct investment(FDI),this dissertation focuses on the effect exerted by FDI on manufacturing industry especially the advanced manufacturing industry one step further,reviews the relevant basic theories and literature researches,and conducts theoretical construction and empirical test on the effect of such three possible aspects as resource replacement,industrial upgrading and technology spillover.Meanwhile,it also inspects the relationship between foreign direct investment and manufacturing upgrading in regions of different economic development levels in China and investigates the international location choice and effect contribution of FDI.To this end,this dissertation is divided into seven chapters to analyze and study these questions mentioned above one by one,and the main contents are as follows:Chapter 1 IntroductionMainly introducing the research background and significance,defining the concepts of OFDI and advanced manufacturing industry.Then clarifying the research result of OFDI and advanced manufacturing industry development's influence to country's industry development,stating the research thought and method.Finally pointing out the innovation and insufficient of this text.Chapter 2 Theoretical BasisRetrospecting briefly the correlation theories of OFDI which are related to the research topic,especially the outward foreign direct investment's theory and advanced manufacturing industry development of developing countries,and their relationship,to lay a theoretical foundation to the research analysis and empirical test of this text.Chapter 3 Analysis of StatusStarting from the background of international development of foreign direct investment,analyze the development of foreign direct investment's historical context,current characteristics,investment motive and geographical gradient of China.Clarifying the development process of manufacturing industry from the aspects of industrial developing history,economic development law,industrial relocation context,western countries' "re-industrialization" strategy and the like,to analyze the difference between advanced manufacturing industry and traditional manufacturing industry.Learning from the idea of western revive manufacturing,lucubrating the manufacturing industry from clarifying the meaning characteristic,to proving part of establishment of explaining the variable indexes and lay the foundation of the following empirical study.Chapter 4 Analysis of the Effect of Resource SupplyOn the basis of analyzing the motive of outward foreign direct investment's resource supply,market expanding,technology acquisition and strategic resources searching,emphatically analyzing the influence mechanism of China's OFDI to advanced manufacturing industry development's resource supply effect.The author has analyzed from two aspects:on the one hand combining inter-provincial foreign direct investment flow data and 8 representatives of advanced manufacturing industry and their total index of correlation,to analyze the provincial panel data model;on the other hand,respectively choosing 18 developed countries',18 developing countries'and 8 inland advanced manufacturing industry representatives,to analyze the nationalities of time series.The empirical study shows that,relative to central region of China,the effect of resource supply of eastern and western region's OFDI to advanced manufacturing industry development is more typical,which may be related with eastern region's absorption capacity of resources integration and western region's external resources dependence.Relative to inverse gradient of foreign direct investment,downgradient foreign direct investment is more prominent to the advanced manufacturing industry development's effect of resource supply,which may be related with developing countries' factor endowment and the motivation of China's foreign direct investment.According to the degree of effect of intercontinental resource supply,from high to low arrangement should be:Africa,Asian,Oceania,North America,Latin America and then Europe.Chapter 5 Analysis of the Industrial Upgrading EffectThe author has analyzed the influence mechanism of China's OFDI to the upgrade effects of advanced manufacturing industry.Referring to the empirical study of chapter 4,relative to western region,eastern region and midland are more prominent to the advanced manufacturing industry development's effect of resource supply,which may be related with economic development level and industrial structure foundation.Relative to downgradient foreign direct investment,the upgrade effects of advanced manufacturing industry of China's inverse gradient of foreign direct investment to advanced manufacturing industry development is more prominent,which show that the investment to the capital and technology intensive countries promote industry's forward linkage and horizontal competition,even play a more significant positive role on the aspects of promoting advanced manufacturing's assets,production value,personnel structure optimization and the like.According to the degree of effect of intercontinental upgrade industries,from high to low arrangement should be:Africa,Asian,Oceania,Europe,North America,Latin America.Chapter 6 Analysis of Technology Spillover EffectsThe influence mechanism of China's foreign direct investment on the technology spillover effect of advanced manufacturing industry.According to the empirical study of the last two chapters,the foreign direct investments in eastern,central and western China have produced significant technical spillover effect on the development of advanced manufacturing industry,which shows that it can integrate technological innovation resources on a global scale through international production capacity cooperation.It can effectively improve the total factor productivity of the advanced manufacturing industry and also shows that to achieve manufacturing industry technological progress through the "going out" policy is generally feasible.Different gradients of foreign direct investments have produced a significant technical spillover effect on China's advanced manufacturing industry development.From high to low effect degree of intercontinental technology spillover,they are:Africa,Asian,Oceania,North America,Europe,and Latin America.Chapter 7 Main Conclusions and Advice for StrategyThe author has summarized the analysis of the whole dissertation and offered suggestions for strategies from the following perspectives:excellent supply of advanced manufacturing industries;structural revolution of supply and demand through international production capacity cooperation;to merge the polarization and achieve Chinese technology manufacturing from Internet thinking;to assist innovation and better facilitate the industry-university research collaboration;to make full use of and perform the advantage industry;to break those setbacks to pursue polarization;upgrade the supply chain,to offer guidance and to make distinction in direct investment and so forth. |
