The history of the industry development indicates that the advanced manufacturing technology can't decidethe manufacturing industry competitiveness of the country or enterprise.A large number of empirical analysis prove that enterprises without technical innovation has more economic benefits than thosewith technology innovation.In the German manufacturing industry,it found that enterprises with low R&D have higher productivity and economic benefits than those with high R&D rate.It's an important challenge to traditional innovation theory which holds that without R&D or low-technological innovation rate means stagnation or even decline for enterprises.Then,evolution economists criticize this technological innovation paradigm.They point a very vital fact is that the environment or system is similar,but innovation(ability)should also be diversified,and it shows significant heterogeneity in different enterprise innovation strategy(behavior).Innovative policy makers ignore other innovative innovation models represented by R&D and its'potential competitiveness.This paper intends to explore the "black box" of management innovation and enriches the existing understanding of different innovation behavior,it is significantly important for the academic.business circles and government departments improving understanding of the competition strategy and innovation strategy,besides technical innovation.With the promulgation of "Made in China 2025",the long-term development of manufacturing industry and its historical role in the development of national economy have been referred to a new historical height by the Chinese government.The next ten to thirty years,the development and contribution of manufacturing will be a powerful source for collecting power advantage in the international economic system?becoming the first-class industrial power and playing an active leading power role.The view of the traditional theory and practice experiencemay not be fully provide management innovation of "Made in China 2025" with theoretical guidance and practical support,and makes an empirical study on the comparison of the theory on the basis of the analysis of the manufacturing industry in developed countries the experience of technical innovation.Therefore,improving the integrity of the innovation theory research is significantfor solving the short-term difficulties or transitional problems of China manufacturing?redefiningprimary and secondary part of the manufacturing strategyand understanding the origin of innovation and enrich the existing mode.Based on reviewingthe history of literature and defining related concepts,such astechnological progress and innovation?economic growth,this paper analyzes the possiblesources of innovative diversity and heterogeneity of competitive advantage.Defining the connotation of management innovation:Enterprise,industry and country integrate the existing resources.On this basis,an analytical framework with combination of structure and content analyze the evolution of management innovation mode?diversity and heterogeneity of competitive advantages of historical analysis in the United States and Japan.What's more,on the basis of the historical experience,the paper analyzes the dimension of the Chinese manufacturing industry,and then analyzes the current situation of China's manufacturing industry.According to logical order,the main content is divided into the following three parts:The first part is the theoretical analysis about the sources of the diversity of innovation and competitive advantage(including introduction and chapter one and two).This part mainly explores the theoretical explanation of the diversity of manufacturing innovation and the heterogeneity of competitive advantage.The evolution of economic theory is stressed to explore the manufacturing enterprise innovation diversity?the environmental complexity and uncertainty which cannot accurately predict by individuals and organizations,resulting in diversity of behavior supposed to choose the profit seeking in economic activities;Besides,resource-based theory?the relationship between basic theory and knowledge-based theory are mentioned to explore the content-explain of sources of the diverse innovation and heterogeneity-competitive advantage of manufacturing enterprises,and a series of internal and external resources and strategic combination mode are used by enterprises to obtain economic benefits and achieve sustainable competitive advantage.The above theory cannot explain how elements changes of technological innovation and management innovation(enterprise innovation factor)influence the innovation of diversity.Therefore,a model of endogenous technological change is constructed through the theory of partial technology progress,in this part,to explain it.It's obvious that factor supply and innovation levels were positively correlated when the innovation elements are in greater flexibility,explaining that the change of substitution between innovation elements leads to path dependence of innovation mode.Based on the above theoretical analysis,structure and content determine the following analytical framework,and after fully considering management innovation observation methods and indicators,both industry level and macro level analysis are considered to determine the state dimension of following study.The second part is the historical analysis of the evolution of the manufacturing management innovation mode of America and Japan and empirical analysis of China's manufacturing management innovation model(including chapter three,four and five).On the basis of manufacturing industry evolution stage characteristics(industry 1.0-industry 4.0),evolution in the United States and Japan were respectively divided into different stages.The pre industrial management innovation model in the United States and Japan are analyzed according to the frame and dimensions of this paper.It is found that there are different degrees and modes of management innovation with significant genetic in the United States and Japan.Under different circumstances,relationship between management innovation and technology innovation are different:in the United States management innovation was aroud technology innovation as a supplement to encourage?support and protect the other.In Japan,it's an alternative to technological innovation,and the technology innovation in Japan show obvious "transitional" feature.Based on the historical analysis of American and Japanese manufacturing industry,analytic dimensions are fixedandcorresponding observation indexes are selected.Based on 'the database of Chinese industrial enterprises 1998-2009 ',an empirical analysis of the status quo of China's manufacturing management innovation model,the analysis results further verify the conclusion of the managementinnovation of American and Japanese manufacturing industry.The five modes of management innovation in China's manufacturing industry are summarized:The production organization structure of "integration"("centralized" and "scattered"as a supplement);The rapid iteration of product innovation and the relatively slow process management model;Sales innovation that relies on less input to obtain excess profits;Industrial policy model to maintain the survival of enterprises based on industrial subsidies;Innovation and production cooperation model with positive utility.The third part is the comparative study on management innovation pattern of manufacturing industry in the United States and Japan and contains enlightenment to the China(including chapter six).On the basis of reviewing the previous conclusions,the general rules of management innovation in the evolution of American and Japanese manufacturing industry are summarized.The heterogeneity of management innovation in the United States and Japan are summarizedbasedon these three aspects:management innovation path(genetic characteristics),the matching relationship with technological innovation,combination of management innovation elements.On the premise of the shortage of current management innovation in Chinese manufacturing industry,there are four messages:Technological innovation is not the only source of competitive advantage,there is an interactive relationship between technological innovation and management innovation,the path dependence of management innovation and competitive advantage"heterogeneity" comes from integration ability.In addition,based on the summary,some policy suggestions are put forward in this paper to promote the management innovation and form the competitive advantage of manufacturing industry:cultivation of "entrepreneur",cultivation of "international enterprisen" strengthening of "industrial association"(including chapter seven).The main innovations of this paper are as follows:(1)management innovation taking aim at allocation of resources is another important source for enterprises to gain competitive advantages,technological innovation and management innovation which respectively through new ways of allocating resources and promoting the competitive advantages of enterprises;(2)there is difference in interactive relationship between technological innovation and management innovation.The management innovation is as a supplement to the technical innovation in America;while Japan is an alternative or intermediate technology to technological innovation;(3)Chinese manufacturing management exists innovation problems,mainly reflected in these ways:From the content,the regression results of the six observation dimensions in different samples are limited to the industrial policy and the business model in the following two aspects;From the means,innovation method is simple and easy to imitate.Based on the observation index,industrial policy takes industrial subsidies,business model as the main means,while the other dimension is difficult to copy,such as innovative collaboration,production organization,quality management,failed to reflect in the regression results.This paper,an exploratory study on the management innovation of manufacturing industry,also has some deficiencies.Besides it is worth further study.It shows in the following aspects:(1)the induction of management innovation mode needs to be further deepened.although the article induces three management innovation models,it doesn't mean there is no others.;(2)there are limitations in the sample data of management innovation,observation dimension and index.In the future research,we can introduce the external knowledge sources,the cooperation relations and the partners and so on.
