At present,China has a very complex and huge oil and gas pipeline network system, and China's oil and gas pipeline construction will continue to develop rapidly. For our country,it is significant to ensure the oil and gas pipeline network system safe and stable operation. Therefore,it is very important and necessary to deal with the influence of complex electromagnetic pulse environment on oil and gas pipelines. In this paper, the influence of high-altitude electromagnetic pulse and geomagnetic storm on oil and gas pipelines is studied. The following 4 aspects are studied.(1)In order to study the effects of high-altitude electromagnetic pulse on buried pipeline, the differential equations for high-altitude electromagnetic pulse coupling buried pipeline are derived based on Maxwell's equations. The coupling equations are solved in frequency domain, and then the induced current and voltage waveforms are obtained by using inverse Fourier transform. The currents and voltages at both ends and in the middle of pipeline are calculated. Finally, the effects of system characteristics on induced currents are presented, such as the length of the pipeline, the depth of the pipeline, the radius of outer surface of the pipeline and the conductivity of the ground. The results of these studies are applicable to electromagnetic pulse protection.(2)In order to study the effects of high-altitude electromagnetic pulse on overhead pipeline, the electromagnetic field-to-overhead pipeline coupling equations are derived from Maxwell's equations. The coupling equations are solved in frequency domain, and the time-domain waveforms of induced currents and voltages are obtained by using inverse Fourier transform. The currents and voltages at both ends and in the middle of pipeline are calculated. The effects of system characteristics on induced voltages are presented, such as the length of the pipeline, the height of the pipeline, the radius of outer surface of the pipeline and the conductivity of the ground. The results of these studies areapplicable to electromagnetic pulse protection.(3)Calculation model of GIC and PSP on buried pipeline is derived. The space distribution of GIC and PSP on the west-east gas transmission pipeline is calculated. The space distribution of GIC and PSP on the west-east gas transmission pipeline and the Russian pipeline is calculated. In November9,2004,the time distribution of GIC and PSP on the west-east gas transmission pipeline is calculated. In September 26,2011 and March 9,2012,the time distribution of GIC and PSP on the Guangdong natural gas pipeline network is calculated.(4)The spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors of GIC and PSP are calculated and analyzed, and some important conclusions are obtained.
