The intense activity on the surface of the sun will send out a large number of high-speed charged particles to the Earth. The charged articles reaching the surface of the Earth in the form of solar storms will cause violent changes in the Earth's magnetic field to form geomagnetic storms. The geomagnetic disturbance of geomagnetic storms will induce electric field. The induced electric field acting on petroleum and natural gas pipelines will induce derivative effects of geomagnetic induction current and pipe-soil potentials in petroleum and natural gas pipelines. The two derivative effects will accelerate the corrosion of petroleum and natural gas pipelines and long-term accumulation can even lead to the leakage of the pipelines. The monitoring of the derivative effect caused by the geomagnetic disturbance of the pipeline is of great significance to the maintenance and harm prevention of pipelines.Firstly,,based on the structural characteristics of petroleum and natural pipeline, this paper compared the mechanism of the power grid with petroleum and natural gas pipelines damaged by the geomagnetic storm, and then expounded the mechanism of pipeline damaged by geomagnetic storm, and clarified the technical and monitoring requirements of pipeline monitoring system.Secondly, based on the monitoring requirements and technical requirements of the derivative effect of petroleum and natural gas pipelines, this paper put forward a monitoring scheme for the derivative effect of pipelines damaged by geomagnetic storms, and designed and developed the monitoring system of geomagnetic storm's effect on petroleum and natural gas pipelines with the technology of computer and network communication.Through repeatedly debugging and experiment, the monitoring system had been applied to three petroleum transmission stations of Sinopec in Shandong, and a lot of measured data had been obtained. Finally, the measured data obtained from the Changyi petroleum transmission station and Xiligu petroleum transmission station in Weifang,Shandong, during the two large magnetic storms in September 8,2017 and September 28th,were analyzed in relation to the geomagnetic data of the national geomagnetic observatories at the same time. It's the first time that the derivation effect of the petroleum and natural gas pipelines damaged by geomagnetic storm in the middle and low latitudes is measured.Combining with the study of the geomagnetic storm damaging power grid and railway system in China, the influence of geomagnetic storm damaging the power grid, railway and petroleum and natural gas pipelines is a global event and an important research topic.
