This thesis takes Taiwan Language-converted Writers as the object of study,Yang Kuei,Lu Heruo,Long Yingzong and Zhang Wenhuan were included. They were tremendously successful in their Japanese writing during the period of Japanese occupation in Taiwan, but had to create their literature work in Chinese after the Restoration of Taiwan. This thesis is intended to analyze the trajectory and reason of the mass cultural psychology changes which the writer group experienced in different cultural contexts,to provide a precise case study of different choices in literature made by those writers, and to explore the reason dominating their literature choices and cultural logic. In summary, this thesis is aimed to find out the relationship between different choices in literature and mass cultural psychology changes in Taiwan Language-converted Writers. This thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter One and Two are macroscopic inspection of mass cultural psychology in Taiwan Language-converted Writers how they formed in disparate literary language ecosystems. It is of importance that to elaborate the the entire process of Language-converting in both prewar and postwar period in Taiwan. In other words, how the language Japanese is becoming the main literary language in the literary field during Taiwan of Japanese occupation, and how the language Chinese returned its deserved position after the Restoration of Taiwan. The process of Japanese becoming the main literary language in the literary field during Taiwan of Japanese occupation,is exactly the same course of how those Taiwan Language-converted Writers entering the literary circle and achieving great success with their Japanese writing. In a manner of speaking, the Japanese-oriented cultural and educational system had a detrimental influence upon Taiwan Language-converted Writers, welded them into a group which was affected deeply by Japanese Influence. The concentrated reflection of Japanese Influence is "the Jang Hyukjoo Comlex",with Jang Hyukjoo((?)),a writer from colony of Korea who had become famous in Japan with Japanese literature work,he was considered as a existing competitor and working determination by Taiwan Language-converted Writers. The existence of "the Jang Hyukjoo Complex" showed a obstinate existence of inner wholeness and strategic homoplasy mass cultural psychology.Sooner after the Restoration of Taiwan, with great historical change and political reform, the social structure had fundamental changes as well as the cultural space in postwar Taiwan. The writers' mass culture psychology of Japanese occupation required a renewal, and under the action of external force it becomes divided, formed different literature choices in Taiwan Language-converted Writers."The Urashima Taro Mindset",which is from a Japanese legend((?)),had indicated how the obsolete mechanism developed and mold a brand new cultural psychology in those writers, which encouraging them of forming different literary choices.Chapter Three,Four and Five are micro-perspective case study, are attempted to summarize three major forms of Taiwan Language-converted Writers' post-war literature choices, also to put forward the psychological survey of how the different literature choices were made. After a short Chinese creation exercises in composition period, the Taiwan Language-converted Writers bring about differentiation in literature choices. They gave up their original literature goal of Japanese writing, even trying to breaking the barrier of Japanese Influence, then focus on their Chinese writing.Due to Second Language Acquisition(SLA)issues, the Language-converting process was a huge challenge on their transitional competence. And more importantly, the process profoundly influenced their cultural psychology.Combining with writer's personal Language Attitudes and Motives of Literary Creation,Taiwan Language-converted Writers demonstrated three various literature choices.Zhang Wen-huan was deeply involved in Kou-Min-Ka movement during late Japanese Occupation period, acting as an advocate and supporter in this stage. This experience made him felt extremely panicky. In Language Attitudes,he felt a distance from Chinese writing and then pull back to Japanese writing.Yang Kuei and Lu He-ruo served as the most well-known left-wing writers of Japanese occupation, they still tried to extend their left-wing working, due to the idea of literature popularization, they emphasis the ambiguity and acceptance in Chinese writing,as a consequence, their Chinese writing presented a inter-language modality. While Long Ying-zong,who had the least capacity to speak and write in Chinese during pre-war time in Taiwan, even stopped writing for a long time just for the sake of improving the ability of Chinese, out of artistically expressive self-demanding,as well as the identity of national culture,he took a form of Japanese-Chinese mutual translation, successfully committed an act of literature in fluent Chinese. In his literature work,we can perceive his thought on colonial experience,on the chasing of cultural standing and on the reshaping of the national identity.
