A Study On The Constructed Space Of Folk Custom

This dissertation compared the living custom in traditional villages and the transplanted custom in Chexi Folk-custom Village to check the Folk-Custom inheritance of Constructed Space.The building of Constructed Space was further researched.With the speeding of urbanization,developing of modernization and deepening of globalization,the folk custom of Tujia minority ethnic groups met challenges like the fragmentation of the village,the migration of the villagers and the vanishing of folk culture.Besides,there were great opportunities like the attention of government,the interests of scholars and the rise of cultural self-consciousness.The research on the new vehicle of folk custom is necessary in this critical period.This dissertation puts forward the idea the Constructed Space of Folk Custom can be the new vehicle of the folk custom inheritance,and it is an innovative approach.This dissertation chose Chexi Folk-custom Village as the subject to study the Constructed Space of Folk custom.The inheritance of folk custom in Chexi folk-custom Village and its impacts were analyzed to study the advantages and disadvantages of Constructed Space of Folk Custom.Meanwhile,the approaches of develop folk custom creatively and innovatively were discussed.Field observation,literature study,questionnaire and interview were used as the study methods to collect information.The author went to Chexi Tujia ethnic village,Chexi Folk-custom Village and Changyang county to observe the differences between the inheritance in villages and folk-custom villages.Related literature was reviewed to get a basic understanding of the folk-custom in Qingjiang basin and Chexi village.Employees,villagers,tourists and staffs of the Cultural Bureau were interviewed to get their cognitions on the cultural inheritance in the original ecological village and the constructed space.Questionnaire was issued to know the public's views on Chexi Folk-custom Village.The dissertation adopted Rational Choice Theory and Cultural Self-consciousness to explain the result of the information-collection.Study found that Chexi Folk-custom Village demonstrated and inherited varieties of folk-custom through varied methods.Stilted building of Tujia groups,customs of marriage,song,music,Tujia weaving and corn wine brewing were displayed.Pot handcraft,bamboo paper making,watermill and shadow play are presented,too.Chexi Folk-custom Village combined life in Chexi and performance on the Stage together.Chexi Folk-custom Village failed in demonstrate folk custom professionally,objectively,dialectically,integrally and scientifically.This is because there is not much Tujia folk custom left in the village and the village adopts the inheriting methods inadequately.Mutual restraint and dependence of the government,investors,managers,villagers and tourist based on their rational choice also contribute to the phenomenon.Based on the survey of the Chexi Folk-custom Village,the thesis analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the Constructed Space in inheriting folk custom.There was more folk custom inherited in the Constructed Space and more methods were adopted,there could be more successors and audiences in the village.The financial sources are diverse.The Constructed Space broadcasts folk custom through villagers and tourists.Besides,the Constructed Space has disadvantages as demonstrating folk custom fragmentally,commercially,artificially,convergedly,statically and passively.Thus,the theory of Constructed Space should be researched to find the organism,the content and the approaches of Space construction.The Constructed Space can solve the problem with the regulation of the government,the push of the scholars and the design of itself.In addition,more modern technology can be employed and the cultural self-consciousness of the local people should be encouraged.Constructed Space should adopt the local folk custom and beware of the trends of custom.The ecosystem of folk custom inheritance should be built,too.The Constructed Space should demonstrate folk custom professionally,objectively,dialectically,integrally and scientificallyConstructed Space has become the new vehicle of folk custom inheritance by inheriting,transplanting and recreating of folk custom.The inheritance by the Folk-custom village and the inheritance by local people were united;Life and performance of actors and actresses in the Constructed Space were integrated.The Constructed Space should innovate its ideas,strategies,methods and mechanisms on folk-custom inheritance.
