The museum is located 45 kilometers west of Luoyang city,and is famous for its collection of 1480 stone carvings.Include the 1197 epitaphs of Tang Dynasty which is called "Qiantang zhizhai".In these epitaphs of Tang Dynasty,the identity of the occupants were official,common people,and the maid of honor.The writing of epitaphs were divided into official,relative and invitational writing.The write for stone inscriptions was either by relatives or the non-relatives.The variety of cut blocks was either official or civil carve worker.The collection of Tang Dynasty epitaph calligraphy should be divided into four periods,the first period,"the flourishing of calligraphy,from the Sui Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty"--from the Gaozu to the Gaozong period;the second period,"the Wuhou make the words and the style of Chu Suiliang was representative"--the period of the Wuhou;the third period,"The Palace set up the monument named Ganluzishu,the Yan Zhenqing style and the Liu Gongquan style special"--from the Xuanzong to the Dezong period;the fourth period,"The Palace set up the second monument named Kaichengshijing as the fine model of the world"--from the Xianzong to the Aizong period.The cause of the style of epitaph calligraphy is closely related to the write for stone insciptions and cut blocks.As even some great calligraphers were participate in this activity,the style of epitaph calligraphy was much better.On the other hand,the still of carve workers was more and more excellent.The carve workers could fully performance the style of the writers.While the craftsmanship of the epitaph is either high class or low grade,the style of epitaph calligraphy is mainly depended or the carve worker.Combining the original trace of the gaochang epitaph and some other epitaphs,the point of view,"On the stone tablefs and opitaphs of the Northern Dynasties the calligraphies had many acute angles,because of the low grade of the crave workers" craftsmanship.But the writes for stone inscripitions were not the case.
