In this thesis, the "Poet epitaphs at the beginning of Tang Dynasty" and its "Tang Dynasty" refers to the 110-year period(618-727) which is from the founding of the Tang Dynasty to Kaiyuan fifteen years. The so-called "poet epitaph," mainly refers to the tomb owner(or Chi Master) who is a poet, and the epitaph written by a poet is taken into account.Studies from the field of classical Chinese literature, the Tang Dynasty epitaphs are of great literature value, status and significance. This thesis makes every effort to do a deep literature review and research on Poetic epitaphs at the beginning of Tang Dynasty in a dynastically historic way. The thesis is divided into five parts:The first chapter, the elaboration of epitaph's literary style and the development survey, carries on the summary of the predecessor's research results mainly from the epitaph's meaning, construction, style, causing and evolution.The second chapter is the epitaph's development at the beginning of Tang Dynasty. On the base of the survey of funeral customs and its evolution at the beginning of Tang Dynasty, it carries on the overall description from the aspects of quantity, length, literary structure, writing style and the author's status at the beginning of Tang Dynasty.The third chapter carries on the systematical research on the poet epitaphs at the beginning of Tang Dynasty, and is the main part of the whole thesis. Through the separate statistics and analysis of the two categories:Chi Master who is a poet at the beginning of Tang Dynasty and the writer of epitaph who is a poet at the beginning of Tang Dynasty, the thesis makes an inspection from the thoughts, feelings and the writing form, and concludes the foremost features of the creation of the poet epitaphs at the beginning of Tang Dynasty.The fourth chapter is the case study of the epitaph, namely the research for the epitaphs written by Chen Zi'ang. It elaborates on the literary characteristics of Chen Zi'ang's epitaphs, focusing on the general characteristics and the individual characteristics.The fifth chapter is the poet epitaph's value and influence at the beginning of Tang Dynasty. It chiefly inspects the poet epitaph's influence and value on the writing of biographical literature and on the epitaph writing of later generations. The appendix is "At the beginning of a Tang Poet Inscription Famous Index".
