A Study On Shin Yun Bok And His Works Hyewonjeonsincheop In The Latter Period Of Chosun Dynasty

This paper is a study on the artistry and artistic significance of Genre painter Shin Yun Bok's Hyewonjeonsincheop in the late 18 th century Chosun Dynasty(about 1700-1850).In history of Korean paintings,Shin Yun Bok is known as a representative genre painter in the center of the development and completion of the Chosun era genre paintings.However,the recognition and evaluation of Shin Yun Bok was hidden in the shadow of history without seeing the light.Since then,research has been actively carried out since the 1970 s,when Shin Yun Bok's works were brought back to Korea with the efforts of Jeon Hyung Pil,who collected Korean national cultural assets scattered in 1936.Hyewonjeonsincheop is a painting expressing the life of the Korean people as it is,and it can be said that it is a bowl containing the life and spirit of Chosun.This study of Hyewonjeonsincheop which was a vessel of Chosun painting,is necessary to recover the mental and spirit of Chosun painting which was cut off,and it is also to redefine the meaning of Shin Yun Bok's genre painting by interpreting it with a modern viewpoint.This paper approached the historical method considering the growth environment and social situation in order to grasp the meaning of Shin Yun Bok's Hyewonjeonsincheop.First,I could understand the motive and meaning of his works by examining Shin Yun Bok's personality,family,father's influence,social trend.On this basis analyzed his work Hyewonjeonsincheop.Therefore,this study is composed of the understanding of Shin Yun Bok's individual and the analysis of 30 pieces of work in Hyewonjeonsincheop.As a result of studying Shin Yun Bok's Hyewonjeonsincheop,the following art historical meaning were found.First,Shin Yun Bok's Hyewonjeonsincheop is a genre painting that implies the consciousness of the subject,the modernity.Secondly,Shin Yunbok's Hyewonjeonsincheop is a realistic painting expressing the actual appearance and change of society in the Chosun period.Third,Shin Yunbok's Hyewonjeonsincheop expresses commoner customs by metaphor and satire technique,and establishes a“Vivid Realism(??????)”style unique to Shin Yun Bok.Therefore,Shin Yun Bok's Hyewonjeonsincheop is a kind of common people's genre painting,and it is a customized painting of the Chosun Dynasty that stands out asthe most beautiful genre painting of Chosun.Such a genre painting of Shin Yun bok brought about popularization of genre painting by expressing satirically against the order of the common people in the daily action of the common people,which is part of the modern resistance culture movement.His spirit of“Vivid Realism”in folk art is transcending the age to painting spirit.
