The Study Of People's Ecological And Environmental Consciousness In The Excavated Documents Of The Northwest Region

It is a worth of discussion that what consciousness the ancient people had.Many researches on environmental consciousness have published in the existed documents while few results came in the study of people's ecological and environmental consciousness according the excavated materials.The thesis focuses on the historical materials of the Northwest Region like Bamboo Slips and Wooden Tablets,Dunhuang Documents,Turban documents,Tarim basin documents and Heisuicheng documents and related materials of cave and painting and sculpture like Mogao Caves and Yulin Caves.We have searched,checked,managed and studied completely the ancient books and records on the environmental consciousness of the people in the Northwest Region from the Han Dynasty to the Xixia Dynasty..On the basis,we have analyzed the environmental foundation causing ecological and environmental consciousness from the respect of natural environment and socioeconomic development,having discussed the ideological roots and social roots of ancient people's ecological and environmental consciousness from the respect of religions thought like Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism and policies and laws issued by the government in order to provide beneficial experiences for ecological civilization construction at present.The “people” in the thesis refers all kinds of people including governors,the ordinary,the monks and the taoist priest,not only the ordinary.The ecological and environmental consciousness refers Northwest Region people's views and points in the excavated documentsls for the environment and the relationships between the people and nature,which shows in the thought of the people in all kinds of society and production and behaviors in daily life especially to emphasis,manage,take care of and take use of the sources of animals,plants,water and land.It states clearly in the relative rules and terms carried by the government such as the Forth Month Article published in Xuan Quan in the Han Dynasty,Term on Protecting Trees in the Letter of Qu Lu,Water Management in Dunhuang published in Dunhuang County in the Tang Dynasty,New Rules in Tiansheng Published In the Western Xia Regime and so on,which concern on the customs,beliefs,sacrifices,celebration,taboos,enlightening education for children as well as the custom such as oneiromancy,divination,house theory and so on.The article begins with an introduction to the origin and the development of ancient China and the West of ecological and environmental ideology and summers main results of expects from home and abroad and bring the topic.The first chapter reviews briefly the development of ecological and environmental ideology thought in ancient China since five periods.The thesis from the second chapter to the sixth chapter checks and manages lots of historical materials like the historical materials of the Northwest Region like Bamboo Slips and Wooden Tablets,Dunhuang Documents,Turban documents,Tarim Basin documents and Heisuicheng documents and related materials of cave and painting and sculpture like Mogao Caves and Yulin Caves.The thesis discusses the ecological and environmental ideology from vegetation cover,animal resources,water resources and so on.The seventh chapter discusses the natural environment foundation and the background and reason of literary society.The eighth chapter discusses the ideological roots of the ecological and environmental ideology from ancient people.The ninth chapter gives some polices and suggestions for temporary ecological civilization construction and people's ecological consciousness strengthening.We found in the research that in all people's ecological and environmental consciousness which charactered by simply,general,active and effectively strong in the excavated documentsls.The form and development of Ancient people in the northwest region's ecological consciousness in some degree was automatic,unwilling or forced by the environment but not just sporadic,frag mental and at will.Maybe lack of analyse mentally in theory for the northwest ancient people,people had honestly care for nature,mountains and rivers,forest and grass as well as animals,which showed wholly observation and realization in the ecological factors like land resources,water resources,animals and plants,and which all people in the society(including the governors,the ordinary,the monks and the taoist priest and so on)had active ecological idea,responsibility and ecological action.We still found that ancient northwest people had a greater effective on the ecological consciousness especially for water resources,forest and grass resources.Clearly,It has a close link with special nature weather charactered by drought and less rain,widely desert and gobi in the northwest region.The thesis is characterized by carefully checking out lots of excavated materials and wall paintings one by one and finding the records on ancient China people's the ecological and environmental ideology,and managing,summering and analyzing the main element forming the ecological environment.Though many research results on the ecology and environment contentiousness for Chinese traditional culture have published,most of them are the summary of historical materials and less and uncontinuous research while this thesis is featured by systematically and wholly search,manage and research the excavated materials and wall paintings.Besides,it is a new concern on the natural environment,social economy environment and ideological roots of ancient people'the ecology and environment contentiousness on the basis of historical materials and wall paintings.China is in the age of promoting the transformation of economic society and strengthening ecological civilization construction to build a beautiful China with blue sky,green land and clear water.We should transfer the extensive produce process into the intensive,the lifestyle high custom into low carbon and green.But the most essential is that we should build the ecological idea of being harmony with nature and people as well as respecting and protecting nature.The thesis aims to provide beneficial experiences for ecological civilization construction at present from the ancient Chinese wisdom of ecological idea.
