A Study Of Polyphonic Variant Words In Documents Unearthed In Turpan

This paper maked a comprehensive study of variant forms of the same word and selected four categories of documents are as research materials :The Unearthed Documents in Turpan(all four volumes)by Tang Changru ? A New Unearthed Documents of Turpan and Its Research by Liu Hongliang ? The New Unearthed Documents in Turpan by Rong Xinjiang,Li Xiao,Meng Yuanshi,The Unearthed Tombstone Collection in Turpan by Hou Can,Wu Meilin.There are 576 groups of phonetic variant forms of the same word,According to the different nature of the phonetic variant forms of the same word,they are divided into 213 groups and 363 groups.And there are many reasons for the formation of phonetic variant forms of the same word,many of which are eight kinds,such as variant Chinese character?paronym?ancient and modern word?interchangeable words?borrowing words?foreign words?wrong words?avoiding words and so on.Through a comprehensive analysis of the causes and types of phonetic variant forms of the same word in Unearthed Documents in Turpan,the thesis concludes three points:The first is that the phonetic variant forms of the same word in Unearthed Documents in Turpan are various and have arbitrary characteristics;the second is that the lexical forms of the phonetic variant forms of the same word in Unearthed Documents in Turpan are generally relatively simple and have the characteristics of recording;Third,the origin of the phonetic variant forms of the same word in Unearthed Documents in Turpan are complicated and have composite characteristics.In addition,the paper collates and interprets some words by comparing the original typography.The 19 miscorrected words in Unearthed Documents in Turpan were corrected,and 4 doubtful words were proved.This paper discusses the important research value of phonetic variant forms of the same word in philology,lexicology and compilation of Chinese dictionaries.In the field of philology,it is helpful for us to clarify the relationship between characters and to test the non-classical words.In lexicology,it is beneficial to the study on the rationality of word meaning and the system of paronym.In the compilation of the dictionary,It is of great significance to make up the supporting materials of the Chinese Large Dictionary in advance and to do well the "reference" work of the Chinese Large Lexicon.In addition,the study of variant forms of the same word has further improved the graphemic collection of The dictionary of the Non-Classical Word in Turpan Manuscripts.
