The Thought Of Cultural Soft Power And The Propagation Of Chinese Traditional Culture

In 2013,after the president Xi Jinping has put forward some goals on China's cultural development in the 3rd Plenary Session of 18th CPC Central Committee of the Chinese communist party:"Building a strong socialist culture,enhance the national cultural soft power,adhere to the development of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics",there are more and more studies on cultural soft power.This proposal is an inevitable requirement for China to strengthen her position in the world after the success in her world's economic power,this can also be considered as the way to solve the problem of uncoordinated development of China's economy and culture.The so-called cultural soft power has been defined as:“Through the use of creative material culture,system culture,spread of cohesion force generated by the spiritual culture and cultural appeal,charisma and influence to attract,rather than using the hard power of military and economic advantages,to enhance the country's comprehensive national strength and achieve national development goals.China's cultural soft power research center director professor Zhang Guozuo suggested:“Chinese traditional culture core contents include love,balance,filial respect,people oriented,keep good faith,advocates justice,harmony,unity,and such thoughts.In addition,ones should have set their minds toward cultivation one's morality,bring family happiness,administer a country,and create a peaceful world.We should put the interests of our country and nation first,worry about the future and destiny of our country,and contribute to the happiness of the people in the world.This core contents of the Chinese culture have affected the life and growth in nature of Chinese people for many generations and make the Chinese nation's traditional culture becomes solid and unity,result in the uniqueness of the Chinese "root","pulse" and "soul"."When the Chinese cultural soft power only fully absorbs the "root","pulse" and "soul" positive energy,and keep pace with the time,constantly adding fresh spirit of the Times,thus the Chinese soft power will be able to develop steadily,quickly,and firmly".It can be seen from this concept that Chinese traditional culture has a high position in the construction of Chinese cultural soft power and is an important resource to demonstrate Chinese cultural soft power with Chinese characteristics.Anyway,in development of cultural diversity caused by globalization,while national culture had been changed from closed to open to new development,cultural development of new technology,new ideas and opportunities for development.However,it will also face many challenges in cultural development,such as the value orientation of national traditional culture,the cultural identity crisis of traditional culture,the aggression of western cultural hegemony and the issue of national cultural security.Therefore,in order to deal with these problems,the Chinese government has set up "Confucius institutes" under the deployment of the ministry of education and the Hanban.The Confucius institute is a cultural institution that promotes the spread of Chinese language and Chinese culture.It has four missions:1.Disseminate Chinese culture and promote cultural exchanges and integration with other countries;2.Enhance the soft power of Chinese culture;3.Promote the large-scale development of cultural industry;4.Build a positive national image.The first Confucius institute was established in Seoul,South Korea,in 2004.Today,there are 511 Confucius institutes in more than 100 countries over five continents.It can be seen from here that Confucius is an important backbone of China's cultural soft power construction.Of course,it is also an important backbone for the propagating of China's excellent traditional culture.The development of Confucius institutes in both theory and principle are certainly conducive to promoting the scientific development of the spreading of traditional Chinese culture.The reason is that Confucius institutes are an important platform for the dissemination of "people-oriented" cultural values;The cultural communication of Confucius institutes can promote the comprehensive development of Chinese traditional culture;The cultural communication of Confucius institutes can promote the coordinated development of Chinese traditional culture;The cultural communication of Confucius institutes can promote the sustainable development of Chinese traditional culture.In any case,according to the survey in this article.We found that there still be some rooms for improvement in the work of the Confucius institute:Firstly,although the Confucius institute in cultural transmission work has paid attention to the importance of people,but the process of volunteers selection is not strict enough in term of traditional Chinese culture,and also the improvement of strict training both in the length of training time and depth of content are still in required;Secondly,although the existence of the Confucius institute has attracted more scholars to focus on the study of Chinese traditional culture,the goal for the comprehensive development of the Chinese traditional culture is still far to be achieved,although the Confucius institute has already paid attention to the matter,but the degree is not deep enough.By enhancing the performance in spreading the impact of the Chinese excellent traditional culture by the Confucius institute,and solving the deficiency of practice,will not only strengthen the root of Chinese cultural soft power unceasingly,but will also help in promoting people' confidence on the development of Chinese traditional culture.This cultural confidence can be shown in 4 aspects which will act as the main composure in development of Chinese traditional culture in the future,namely:1.To put people first in dealing with the problem of cultural value orientation;2.To deal with of cultural identity crisis with the overall development;3.To deal with the Western capitalist cultural hegemony with the coordinated development;4.To deal with the problem of cultural security with sustainable development.
