A Study Of The Three Original Source Groups In Shaanxi During The Ming And Qing Dynasties And Their Writings

This research focuses on the scholars inSanyuan County,Shaanxi Province,and their literature works during Ming and Qing dynasties.The aim of the study is to discover their philological value,literary value and cultural value through a systematic investigation on the existing and losing situation of 408 literature works from 149 scholars.By means of this,the author endeavors to fully present the golden age of humanity and culture of Sanyuan County during this period.The paper consists of two parts with eight chapters other than the preface and appendices.The first part of the research is a comprehensive study,which consists the f irst four chapters.Chapter one draws an overview on the entire scholargroup fro m Sanyuan County,Shaanxi Province,and their 408 literature works.It proposes the concept of "Sanyuan Literary Group",and further sketches their unique cult ural characteristic of "Being Honest and Frank".The researcher also identifies err ors in their literature works and verifies the possible duplication of scholars' nam es.Chapter two studies the thoughts of the Sanyuan Literary Group.The researc her presents their local characteristics of "Respecting Confucianism?Emphasizing reliability in studies?Stressing practice,and Advocating moral integrity".As a si gnificant breach of Guan School,Sanyuan Literary Group plays aninfluentialrole in the development of Guan School.This chapter also investigates the Neo-Conf ucianism practice of Sanyuan Scholars.Through the in-depth research on the ma nuscript of "Jie Ting Guan Kui" from Qing Dynasty,the author reveals the Neo-Confucianism's thought of Sanyuan scholarLiu Ren.Study in the third chapter fo cuses on the literature works of Sanyuan Literary Group.It presents their literary characteristic of being imposing and concise,which is formed by their attention to the practical use of literatures under the influence of Neo-Confucianism.Res earch in this paper reveals intensive literary and socialinteractionamong scholars i nternal this group,as well as their frequentinteraction with external mainstream li terary groups.The literary creation of Sanyuan Literary Group can be divided int o three stages.Each stage has its own unique characteristic.However,the main feature of Qin style has never been changed.In the fourth chapter,the author dr aws attention to the Wen's family to further investigate the family life of Sanyua n scholars during Ming and Qing dynasties.The author proposes 'Region-Family'as a significant approach to explore the literary value of Shaanxi during this pe riod.Comparative research is also conducted in detailSin this study on themanus cript of "Wen Yu Heng Xian Sheng Shi Cao Yuan Ben" from Qing Dynasty and the block-printed book of "Wen Yu Le Xian Sheng Shi Ji" from Qing Dynasty.The second part of the paper is a narrative of literatures,which consists cha pter five to chapter eight.They author classifies all the literature works from the research group based on "Jing,Shi,Zi,Ji"(Four-Branch Classification)with a r esearch focus on existing literature works from Sanyuan Scholars during Ming a nd Qing dynasties.Each chapter begins with a general introduction,which gives an overview of their literary characteristic and value.Chapter five introduces the literature works of Jing branch from Sanyuan Literary Group and researches on 16 existing works and 29 works listed within bibliographies.Chapter six compil es the literature works of Shi branch from Sanyuan Literary Group and investiga tes on 31 existing works and 38 works listed within bibliographies.Chapter seve n summarizes the literature works of Zi branch from Sanyuan Literary Group an d studies on 10 existing works and 19 works listed within bibliographies.The ei ghth chapter collected the literature works of Ji branch from Sanyuan Literary G roup and explores 75 existing works and 190 works listed within bibliographies.For the comprehensive study on the existing literatures from the research group,the research is based on detailed examination on the entire existing works and v erification withinbibliographies.Attention is drawn onscholars' life experiences an d the main theme of their literature works during the study.The researcher furth er analyzes the layout,origin,existing and collection situation,main idea,as wel 1 as the academic values of all the literature works,with a purpose of evaluating their philological value and sorting out the collection situation.For the researc h on verification within bibliographies,this study focuses on the existing public and private bibliographies,"Sanyuan County Records","Er Nan Yi yin","Yuan Xian Shi Lu",as well as other sorts of literatures and philological information,with an ambition of clarifying their document description.By the end of the paper,the author provides three appendices.Appendix Ipr esents an in-depth research on five country records edited by Sanyuan Country,with an evaluation on its academic quality and philological value.Appendix ? st udies the citations of Sanyuan literary works in other literatures,including the re cent excavated documents and relevant information.Appendix III introduces the r esearch on the block-printed book "Si Zheng Feng Shi Lu" from Ming dynasty,with a purpose of revealing the truth of the well-known historic event with regar d toWanli emperor Luo Yu Ren,in relevant tohis over-indulgence in "alcohol,se x,avarice and temper".
