This study explored and illustrated the works and its impacts of Novelist Wang Shuo of China,and the analysis is divided by Social Influences instead of Timeline so as to avoid inconsistency between the social-cultural developments and time changes.By having an overall view of all the works of Wang Shuo,it indicates a piece of “Cold – Hot-Cold” literary phenomenon,which is not only a writing technique of someone.It is the result of many complex and comprehensive factors such as political change,economic development,cultural transformation,people's psychological changes and cultural communication methods.In this paper,Wang Shuo is placed in the three-dimensional coordinates of history,society and culture,who is being analyzed based on his literary phenomenon of "cold-hot-cold" presented in different periods.This paper is divided into the following sections:Prologue: It raised the research value and present research achievements of Wang Shuo's work for its “Unclassified” character in contemporary literature of China.And the objects and methods of the research are also indicated in this part.Chapter One: It analyzed the early period works of Wang Shuo and contemporary works of others so as to find out how he earned the place of China's literary and literary market.I take Stewardess and Hot and cold,Measure of Measure as objects,which it discusses the confusion,pain,contradiction,struggle and helplessness of the male protagonist in the life trajectory.This means that Wang Shuo in this period is not the "Mischief" in the true sense,but it has just begun to take shape.As per Stewardess,and Hot and cold,Measure of Measure,the love stories of main characters explain the value competition between upper wards and downwards.The value competition is conveyed not only by the love relationships but also the present and past of the main character.The Mischief object for this period is not as mature as an independent aesthetic object,it relies on the love story.Although this type of tragedy story has reserved the effect of family factors and sense of hierarchy and raised some social issues in the period of social transition,it still been drowned out by Cultural Feast in 1980 s.Chapter Two: It analyzed the reason of “Wang Shuo Craze” in Mid of 1980 s to Early 1990 s by its works.This period is the height of his fame,and also is the forming period of his literature style.One of his literature powers is the Mischief Images he creates in the period of social transition.All the Mischief are naturally followed natural and free style,rebel against the orthodoxy,negate everything,subvert the pseudo-ideal,pseudo-sublime and pseudo-moral.Besides,Wang Shu's novels during this period focused on the criticism of “intellectuals”.The intellectuals are a complex and huge social group.The essence of Wang Shuo's criticism and irony of “intellectuals” is that “the intellectuals perform their duties of expressing opinions and attitudes according to their true will which is in contradiction with the society in which they live.This became the logical starting point for Wang Shuo to criticize "intellectuals." Due to historical reasons and social reality,Wang Shu's "intellectuals" have become the "superfluous people" image that slips to the edge of society,looks hypocritical and has inner pains.Meanwhile,the "real humanity" that Wang Hao has been pursuing has been both natural and social,and its essence is the confrontation against the "moral standards" set during the Cultural Revolution under the social order dominated by the market economy.Wang Shuo's narrative strategy of expressing true humanity consists of the narrative of “breaking away from bondage” and the irony of “hypothetical mask”.Furthermore,the novel language of Wang Shuo is a must in the history of contemporary Chinese literature,which is reflected in Wang Shuo's "personal dialogue" as an independent description.He intentionally stirs up proverbs,colloquialism and written language.At last,the audience of Wang Shuo's novel is analyzed and divided into two groups: one is a professional audience;the other is a general audience.Although these two different audiences have their own different concerns,they have jointly created the "Wang Shuo Craze" in 1980 s – 1990 s.Chapter Three: It mainly discusses the cross-border practice between literature and film in the 1980 s and 1990 s.In addition to literary achievements,the screenplays of "Wang Shuo Craze" appeared in the 1980 s and 1990 s is another important achievement,and it cannot be ignored.In the 1980 s,the Chinese mainland set off an unprecedented film trend.Under the advocacy of “making entertainment films”,Wang Shuo successfully established a bridge between novels and screenplays.Wang Shuo's "Hunger" has become a collective memory of a generation.This is not only because the creation of the "room drama" form of "Hunger" brings people a refreshing feeling,but also because it stands in people's position and satisfies the needs of sincere and simple emotions who have experienced human repression,cultural authoritarian and market economy.It rebuilt the broken values of the Cultural Revolution.Liu Huifang,main character in the play,is actually a female image produced in the process of "traditional" and "independence".Chapter Four: It takes "My Chitose Cold","To Daughter's Book" and "New Madman's Diary" as an example to analyze the reasons why Wang Shuo constantly encounters "cold" in the new century.Zen experience is introduced into Wang Shuo's new century literature,which is surpassed people's life experience showing a strong "inward turn" tendency.The ultimate concern for human beings became new favorites of Wang Shuo.Besides,"subversive novel style" has become his expression in the literary writing.It is due to the "de-sexualize style" of his writing content,and it also due to his powerful response to "literary death" is his reflection.However,the current audiences are always keen on the those works which is based on their familiar life experience.When Wang Shuo deliberately abandoned the "life experience with acceptable desire”,it will inevitably move toward the path that is forgotten by readers.It is the early stage of literature in the new century,and it is still in the process of continuous publication and change.With the deepening of the study of literature in the new century by writers and critics,the position and impact of Wang Shuo's future is still hopeful.In conclusion,dynamic summaries and analysis is placed for Wang Shuo's entire creating process.
