The Communication And Transformation Of Chinese Dance In Singapore

From Singapore's perspective,the paper analyzes the developments of Chinese Dance in Singapore through intercultural communication,in order to exam the motivations of behind the spread of Chinese dance and variation in the process.It also discusses the relationships between dance development and other factors as history,politics,economic,culture,region,races,and nature conditions.In the field of the research of literature and history,the paper studied hundreds of years of Singaporean history and Chinese immigrants,as well as the spread of Chinese dance of the trajectory in Singapore.And the paper also analyzes the different historical stages and periods of Chinese dance communication and the various variations in Singapore,outline a trajectory of "Singapore Chinese Dance History",and brought out the representative dance that appeared in the development of Chinese dance in Singapore,which made the original "fragmented" Singaporean Chinese dance history a clear picture.The paper fills the gap in the history of Singapore's dance.In addition,the Paper also expounds the margins and connotations of "Chinese Dance" from the aspects of history,politics,nationality,culture and dance,and then clarifies the identity of "Chinese Dance" and solves the difference between "Chinese Dance" and "Chinese Ethnic Dance" which is the problem of conceptual confusion over the years”.In the field of communication and variation,the paper analyzed the relationship between dance transmission and variation under multi-culture environment.By using the theory of communication and relationships and interaction model among sender—information—receiver,the paper discussed the formation of different dancing forms from the same origin.The paper firstly proposed the “dance variation increment law” in dance theory.The law suggests that the variation in dance forms increases because the physical distance and racial difference between the sender and receiver when the dance is spread under cross-culture communication circumstance.The law states: the longer the physical distance,the bigger changes;the bigger difference between the cultures,the more variations.In the study of dance ontology,the paper use the theory of Laban's body movement and the natural selection theory of "natural selection,survival of the fittest" in Darwin's "evolution" and the biological theory of "use and retreat" of Lamarck.The paper also firstly proposed the “temperature theory”.The theory states that temperature decides the features of dance,like the power,speed,and span of moves.The interaction between these features follows curtain rules.This paper also discovered the proof to support that temperature can affect moves directly.In the study of urban culture and folk dance survival,the folk dances how to survive at the city is a problem since it origins from the farming culture.The social structure is similar in China and Singapore with the Han as the majority in a multinational state.Singapore is more advanced in city modernization than China.How could the folk dance which is rooted in suburb survive in a modern society? This is the challenge ahead of all the dancers.The research on the development Chinese dance(including traditional and folk dance)in Singapore will help us draw lessons from failure and success in Singapore and find the solution to the survival of folk dance in a modern society in China.
