By the end of 2018,China's urbanization rate has reached 59.58%,close to 60%.This is the result of China's rapid economic development in the past 40 years of Reform and Opening Policy. However, with the large-scale expansion and rapid development of cities, rural areas are declining and the economic development is lagging behind.Since 2000,China has been formally involved in the trade system of economic globalization. The development of urbanization has further widened the gap between urban and rural areas in China. In order to break the dual structure of urban and rural areas, balance the gap between urban and rural areas, and achieve urban-rural integration and common development, the government put forward the task of building a new socialist countryside at the Fifth Plenary Session of the 16 th Central Committee in 2005,and formally put forward the national development strategy of Rural Revitalization at the 19 th National Congress in 2017.In this context, various types of art practices have emerged in rural areas of China since 2000,from the initial sporadic distribution to the blowout in 2008,until 2015.However,many rural art practices have also exposed many problems. The main problem is the disconnection between art practice and local reality. The lack of local subjectivity is the root cause, and the ultimate result is the unsustainability of art practice. In view of this situation, the author has carried out field research in rural areas of China and Japan for more than 2 years, collecting 9 rural areas and 30 rural art practice cases. The purpose of this study is to find out how to carry out artistic practice based on the site-specificity in the current rural areas of China, what trends this kind of artistic practice has,and where the ultimate goal should be focused,so as to truly realize the artistic revitalization of the countryside, promote the common development of the countryside and even the surrounding areas, resolving the contradictions between urban and rural dual structure, and achieve the integration and linkage development of urban and rural areas. The full text discusses from five aspects, through combing the current situation of art practice in rural areas, leads to the existing problems;in view of the problems, from the value of rural areas, the definition of the site-specific art,the construction of the site-specific art practice(from the two dimensions of the geographical environment and the field spirit)in rural areas, the organizational forms and sustainability of site-specificity art in rural areas, and so on.Combining with the case analysis, the paper gives the strategy to solve the problems. Finally,it comes to the conclusion that art practices in rural areas must be based on the site-specificity,and this kind of art practice has three trends: platform, spontaneity and sustainability. It has four development models and can be divided into four development stages. The ultimate goal of site-specific art practice in rural areas should focus on people, focusing on the community in rural areas: through continuous artistic practice, enhance the identity and self-awareness of the people, arouse social concern and reflect on the existing problems;through the construction of an effective public sphere, make the voice of the people converge and be disseminated, while expanding the influence of the works. This research has a strong practical significance, and has a certain reference value for the future development of rural art practice. The innovation of this paper is that it summarizes the research methods of rural art practice cases from the methodological point of view, and points out two main principles: independent research and continuous observation. On the basis of the division of three types of site-specific art paradigms by Miwon Kwon,an American art historian, four levels of site-specificity construction of Chinese rural art practice are put forward, namely, the combination with geographical environment, the awakening of collective memory, the construction of local identity and the platform. This paper summarizes the three organizational forms of art practice in rural areas in China and its three development trends(platform, spontaneity and sustainability),development models and development stages. And emphasizes that the ultimate goal of site-specific art in rural areas should be to focus on people, that is,the local people in the rural areas. Finally, rural art practice becomes a living organism rooted in the local soil and grows freely.
